Old gas station turns out some of the best fried and blackened catfish in the south!

Great food, casual atmosphere. This is an older building, maybe an old gas station or country store. They have built their legendary restaurant business on their southern fried catfish, but have other items also. A neat experience with good, satisfying food. Worth checking out if you are in the vicinity.

Great catfish, slaw is just right and the best homemade tarter sauce ever with tea and hush puppies just like my grandmothers. Mr John has it to a exact science.

Food is great!! Placed a Togo order and they let it sit on the counter. I asked the lady at the register if my order was ready she said oh yeah here it is… I said oh I wonder how long it has been sitting there. Oh I dunno she replied. I said I had been sitting for 30 minutes waiting. She said well I didn’t take your order. Hmm ok. Togo order- no silverware, no napkins, no ketchup.
Food is great as usual but service could use some help.

I liked it. 4 piece Catfish platter with coleslaw and Georgia fries. Fish fillets were lightly battered lightly fried. Fish was done and still moist. Next time I’ll call in and get carry out.

Don’t let the old service station the restaurant is in fool you. My wife and I each had a catfish plate and it was outstanding! The portions are large and the catfish was cooked to perfection. Will be our go to restaurant in Red Bay!

Oh, man, what an example of funneling all your money into the food and not the location. It’s a bit intimidating for out-of-town visitors to visit this diner cuz it’s in a dilapidated, old service station. My wife thought I was walking into the kitchen the entrance was so not identifiable. Not much has been done to modernize or beautify the interior, with peeling paint and questionable residue in the corners. BUT between the line of cars going through the drive thru and number of people inside, clearly the food and prices are the main focus. The catfish was flaky and fresh, the BBQ beans were spot on, the portion sizes generous and the steak well cooked (if not a little fatty.) Steel your soul and make the adventure happen, you won’t be disappointed.

This was our first time there and looking at the website I thought you sat down and ordered. I didn’t realize you just went through real fast and got what you wanted maybe a little bit more descriptive of the service and more directional signage. We had no idea what to do when we walked in.

Food was very good! We had the buffer. 2 sides and drink were included. Don’t expect fine dining but if you like dives, this is the place to go.

This restaurant is the best in town!!! I highly recommend the smashed potato, or grilled chicken salad! I just wish they were open everyday! On Thursdays, you have to get their fried fish! Talk about yum! And, they make their own tartar sauce! Don’t forget to ask for pickles and onion, too!
