If you are in Spencer NC definitely come check this place out . Great customer service. The people who run this place are extremely nice and sweet. And I got a foot long hot dog. First bite was so so good. Definitely recommend this place. Come check it out!!!!

Went with one of my fellow NCTM volunteers, first time. All hot dogs are beef and more than fill the bun. I had slaw/chili/mustard and it was delicious. With a drink, chips, and a pecan twirl this combo was under $8. It was nice to sit outside across from The new park and the service was great.

Strange/funky/little hot dog shop set up right off the main street. There is NO indoor seating. In fact? You don’t go inside to order. The cook comes out to take your order. They do have four outdoor tables and chairs (patio furniture) for guests to use, and two of them have table umbrellas. We went in the late afternoon, and that side of the street is completely in the shade. The other option is to eat in your car.
There is a handwritten menu board and hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese and pimento cheese sandwiches are served. Prices are very reasonable. They serve Pepsi products. Our hotdogs were just… hotdogs. The chili had a sweet tang to it. I had mine with mustard, chili and onion. Other options were ketchup and relish.
The owner/cook was a very nice guy who checked on us regularly and kept our drinks refilled. We went on a Wednesday and they closed at 4pm. Check their hours before you go. The seating is limited and there is only street parking. I believe there was a sign that said no restrooms.
Overall, it was a nice change up to eat patio side with hot dogs and chips.

No frills hot dog and hamburger spot. Cash only and hot dogs on the menu run from $3 and up. I believe they have some items not listed on the menu like a spicy chicken sandwich. They have some desserts from what I know. Only plain Lay’s chips for a side item. They also have glass bottle Cheerwine and other sodas and beverages.
If you want no nonsense hot dogs or hamburgers, this is the spot.

They were closed inside so we had to take it to go, which was fine. The lady was the nicest ever. She came outside in the rain and explained the simple menu to us. My wife and I each got a footlong combo, which comes with a footlong hotdog, a small drink, a moon pie, and a small bag of lays chips. Everything came out to $13 and some change, which isn’t bad all considering fast food hot dog places would of charged $20 if not more. The hot dogs tasted hot, fresh, and delicious. Cutest mom and pop shop we’ve been to, and after reading the other reviews, this place definitely is a gem for this town. Loved it!

Pam and Roger are a local institution! If you live in Spencer, you know they are an irreplaceable fixture in the community. They are so kind and friendly, and of course the food is excellent and perfect comfort food – I recommend their pimento cheese sandwich, chicken salad, or even a pimento cheeseburger! Add onions and peppers for perfection. Great family atmosphere, outdoor dining, great views to the train museum. A “must visit” on any to-do list while visiting Spencer!

This little shop has some really good dogs! The Roger dog was a great choice today. The dog was grilled and the bun was nicely toasted to my surprise. The chili and slaw were excellent on the dog! The lady working there explained that the chili and slaw are made daily in house and the taste reflected that. It is curbside service only with a few tables on the sidewalk. They take the orders and payment outside. There is no entering the building just to be clear. The folks running this place are very pleasant to interact with.

Great family business with good food and friendly service at an extremely reasonable price. Cash only and outside seating help them to stay reasonable. I personally like it that way. There are many other places locally that dont have inside seating and have not passed the savings on to the customers.
These folks make the small town atmosphere of Spencer even better than it already is.

Roger Dogs is a great place for a dog. The bun comes toasted and you choose the condiments. Great small local business. Friendly staff and the food came fast. It is outside dining, car hop service (just pull up front) or take away. Cash only. Nothing on the menu is more than $4.50 , except for the meal deal, which is $7.25. Going back to try other items on the menu.

If you are in a hurry – this is not the place for you. Want a relaxing friendly simple snack – Very Best Hot Dogs. Wonderful customer service. Did I mention the GREAT HOT DOGS!. Best in Rowan County. Look forward to my weekly Hot Dog, Cheerwine & people watching.
