My wife & I came here on 02.14.26 for the first time. We had the Birria Egg Rolls as a starter. For our main meals, I had the Backyard Carne Asada Tacos and my wife had the Quesadilla De Camaron. For dessert we had the fried ice cream. We enjoyed the food and cozy atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive. My wife and I liked the small details within the restaurant, e.g. the small serving dish with three sauces and three tiny wooden spoons within a weaved basket and art work on the walls. Overall our experience was very good and we will return to try other options, personally I want to try the Birria Ramen dish!

Went in on a Sunday afternoon with the husband and daughter. Did not realize they were serving only the brunch menu till 2 p.m. But, we were not disappointed at all. In fact, the food was amazing and now we are looking forward to returning to try items from the full dinner menu.
Packed with flavor is the only way to describe the food. We shared all our plates and all of them were fantastic. The sauces that accompany the tacos are too good.
Don’t miss the dessert either. They are worth it even though you will probably be really full because the portions are perfect to generous.

Barely moved to Michigan 3 months ago and I’ve gone to a few places to eat and try the food around here, but this place over excelled their service. The food was phenomenal and their service top class. The whole experience was amazing. I would totally recommend this place and im definitely coming back again. The servers are friendly and you get this feel like you’re at home. I’ll leave picture of some of the things we ordered. Pozole, chilaquiles de birria, concha French toast style, Dubai churros. Delicious is all I gotta say. Oh and the Jamaica guava water was amazing!

From the moment you walk into Taco Wuey, you can tell this isn’t your average taqueria. The space has a modern, beautiful decor colorful yet classy, with a warm glow and attention to detail that perfectly blends traditional Mexican roots with a contemporary Detroit edge. It feels like a place designed with pride, ideal for a date night, family outing, or just to unwind over good food and creative drinks.
The agua frescas are incredible fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced in sweetness.I ordered the Camarones Yucatecos, and it completely exceeded expectations. The shrimp were perfectly seared, tender, and packed with flavor from the guajillo achiote sauce, resting beautifully on banana leaf with onions, rice, and plantains. Every component complemented the next smoky, sweet, and savory all in one dish. You can tell Chef Eddie Vargas really understands how to balance flavors while keeping things authentic and soulful.
The salsas and sauces here deserve their own spotlight each one adds a unique punch. The fact that they offer multiple types of flavorful sauces on the side makes it easy to customize every bite to your taste. The Dubai Churro was a masterpiece. A creative, modern twist that’s as fun to look at as it is to eat. Crispy outside, soft inside, with layers of sweetness and texture a truly innovative and wellexecuted dessert that sums up the entire experience here.Overall, Taco Wuey is a gem in Southwest Detroit Definitely one of the most creative and delicious Mexican dining experiences in the city.

Tacos Wuey opened its doors in July 2025. Prior to dining in, I was intrigued by the menu. Chef Eddie Vargas put together a collection of fusion dishes you’re not likely to find elsewhere.
Rather than traditional tortilla chips, meals start with flour chicharrones. The salsa they came with had some kick to it. The birria egg roll appetizer was too enticing to pass up. They were a bit dry, but the arugula and consommé they were served with complemented them well.
The spaghetti verde con milanesa was another dish I had to try. This pasta dish features a pablano-based sauce and is topped with fried chicken cutlets. The sauce was mild, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I also tried 4 different tacos, ranked below:
1. Birria
2. Carne Asada
3. Milanesa
4. Orejón (pig ears)
For dessert, I ordered flan. It was simple, but had a nice presentation. Using caramel, Chef Eddie signed his initials on the plate, and topped the flan with a piece of caramel bark.
There are numerous quality Mexican restaurants in the Metro Detroit area, but few offer a menu as unique as Tacos Wuey. My first experience here was enjoyable, and I’m confident my next visit will be even better.

Chef Eddie continues to make delicious food. I was dreaming of this ceviche and so happy to have it again. This time I made myself take a picture before diving in!
The flan was also surprisingly tasty. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu in time!

Chef Eddie Vargas’ restaurant is a home run! The food is amazing with his family Birria recipe front and center. I had the Birria Ramen which was amazing, so flavorful! Of course I had to add a Birria Taco because, you just have to. For desert, we had the Paleta de Jicama and what a refreshing summer dessert! Cannot recommend Tacos Wuey enough!!
