My first night in Milwaukee, I found The Social American Tavern and it was amazing! Selena was my server and she was very friendly. I ordered the bacon and brussels to start and it was very good, but the star of the meal was the Downtown Salmon. The fish was moist and flaky with a wonderful crunchy top, easily the best fish I’ve had! The quinoa and couscous risotto was delicious with a side of asparagus. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to going back!

We just had a great meal at The Social American Tavern tonight. We were walking around for Doors Open MKE and needed a place to eat. We started with the brussel sprouts and they were THE BEST I have ever had. Our sandwiches Wild Mushroom Dip and Cubano were delicious; balanced flavors and tasty bread.

On top of great food, the service was excellent. Selena was our server. She was delightful and went the extra mile. Get this: my mum forgot her sunglasses at the table, and when I walked back into the restaurant 15 minutes later to ask about the glasses, Selena already had found the case and had them ready for me to pickup. FIVE STARS!!

This is a great spot near the lobby of the Marriott. Was really empty on a Thursday evening, but they had a solo singer there which was nice.

I would highly recommend the bruschetta. The brussel sprouts were also quite tasty. I got the burger and it was tasty and not too greasy which was nice. We would definitely recommend this place for some good American food

This place is so charming and delightful! We went here for my aunts birthday celebration and ordered Mac and cheese which was great then we got a BLT sandwich and a cheeseburger they were both amazing and the waitress Kayla is very nice and great if you need something! I would totally recommend this place if in downtown Milwaukee!

I give this Hotel restaurant an overall 4 star rating.
The food: Hit or miss, some of the menu items are things a college kid would invent late at night. I tried the mid west sushi which is essentially a tortilla short rib filled burrito, good, especially the combo of picked onions and short rib, but the tortilla was a bit dried out. Then later I had the cheese curds, great, not too salt even with the garlic parm topping they put on. But the brat-stickers are a pass, wontons stuffed with sausage meat, the flavor just wasnt there. And the fried chicken sliders were also a miss, chicken too dry, and the tomato too thick, it was all around hard to eat. 3/5

The service: I’ll say, it’s a Monday night so there’s only 1 waitress, but a few guests. The waitress was friendly, but didn’t refill my water until after the check was brought. 4/5

The atmosphere: it’s a pretty cool space, you can see it from the lobby front desk and you want to go in and be a part of it when it’s alive. They do events too I think, and a happy hour, although that ended at 6, so me and my wife missed it. Not too loud either which is a plus for me. 5/5

I came here to try out the sloppy Joe for Restaurant week after hearing about it from friends. I ordered soup, sloppy Joe sliders, and strawberry shortcake bites all for $15. Their sloppy Joe sliders were one of the best sloppy joes I’ve had. The buns were nicely toasted, not burnt at all, and the meat went really well with fries.
Their drinks are decent and the atmosphere is relaxed. The employees I’ve met so far are very friendly. The bartender is attentive at getting your drink orders and I’ve had some really good drink recommendations from the staff.

I had to make a reservation for Restaurant Week and was glad I did since was packed by noon.

We were there for the deception show. The host seemed a little pushy. Saying that we would get seated for dinner as people arrived. We arrived at 6:00 since the show didn’t start 8. He stated we could get a drink but to cash out right way. We ordered our drinks and tried to pay right away. But since they were clearly under staffed for the night. We waited allot longer to get our drinks and to pay, We only ordered a beer and a drink from the menu nothing fancy. The host kept coming back to stand there and wait for us. The place was not busy and there were about 10 tables open. So I was not sure what the rush was since we were waiting on the bartenders. The bartenders seemed to be doing what they could as very inexperienced bartenders. So right away we felt under pressure to get seated and to eat quickly because we might get pushed out. The food was good. The waitress was great. The music choice was awful!! It was a loud techno blend that made you feel like you were In a club trying to eat.

Cool place in a historic building downtown. Amazing architecture and beautiful surroundings. Dinner was good, a couple of slightly overcooked items, but overall very nice. Service was excellent as well.

Rated 2 stars due to the manager being understanding and apologetic. The appetizer took over 50 minutes to arrive, while the main course was about 20 minutes after. The local drafts were warm, clearly not refrigerated whatsoever. The chips for the nachos were horribly stale which was not edible at all. The appetizer was fried for much longer than it should have been and defenitely not worth the money. The Mac and cheese was sub par at the best and had old dry ground beef instead of sausage. The chef came out and recognized that the meat on the Mac and cheese was ground beef and not sausage as it should haven been. Their phone number goes straight to the Hilton’s front desk as well. It is absolutely worth the wait elsewhere and the staff should receive additional training. I understand the lack of staff these days, but better communication is necessary. I believe Hilton should reconsider their choices of room service and should look elsewhere until these issues are resolved. FYI, the tables weren’t wiped down with a sanitizer, I watched other guests be seated and they hardly wiped the table down while they were being seated.

Wow! What a great time. We loved the aps! LOVED the Bruschetta. When my dinner pals ordered bratstickers, I was a bit skeptical. But I’m a believer now! Hooked. We fought over the last one. The steak frites was fab. And the cocktails were superb. Well made, balanced and nicely presented. Will be back for sure! Oh. And it’s inside one of the coolest historic buildings in downtown MKE. Can’t believe we’ve never been inside. Go for dinner then check out the place!
