My favorites: cardamom roll, everything knot, and their pretzel.
This week, Feb 2026, they open a shop in the San Leandro Library main branch!
Their beard is consistently good and priced fairly. They sell central milling flour by the pound five lb bag.
Their pretzels are the closest thing to a German pretzel I’ve found in the Bay Area. Chewy with a bit a bite from the lye bath, brown on the outside with a white slightly sweet interior. Though their arms could be a hair thinner and crispier.
Breads are excellent with their porridge loaf being outstanding.
Only reason I give four stars for atmosphere is that they don’t feel cozy but more working bakery with the front counter blending right into the bakery in the back.
There’s a lot to like about this bakery. I arrived near closing and was greetly by a friendly person at the door. I got the honey sage foccaccia and flax and sun flower loaf.
The foccacia is probably different from what you get from other bakeries. Less bready, perhaps more oily, and the honey glaze definitely makes their version sweeter. Nonetheless, I think tastes great. The sage is not overpowering and strikes the right balance between sweet and savory.
The flax sunflower loaf is heavy and hearty, but as advertised on the bag, it retains a light and open (somewhat spongy) texture. Its hardly sour and the seeds provide a nice aftertaste
Their breads and pastries are not cheap but this is a locally owned business that genuinely wants to offer quality products. As the numerous awards attest to, that’s worthy of support. I’ll go back and buy more.
They are now selling their own delicious croissants.
