I had a great experience at Raquel’s Restaurant & Catering. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch quesadilla with homemade chips and finished it off with their lemonade cake. The ranch and the cake are both made in-house, and you can absolutely tell. The ranch was packed with flavor, and the lemonade cake was outstanding. I’m a huge lemon dessert fan, and this one easily sits at the top of the lemon desserts I’ve tried.

I was greeted right away by one of the owners, who seated me and personally waited on me. He was very friendly and took the time to explain how they prepare their food fresh and in-house, which I always appreciate.

The layout and environment felt like a mix between a funeral home and a library, and it was a bit cold inside — but the fresh flowers on the tables were a really nice touch and added some warmth to the space.

Overall, the food and hospitality really stood out, and I’ll definitely be back.

The food is excellent with large portions. I got the soup and salad bar and everything was delicious and homemade. Grilled chicken on salad bar was the best. I enjoyed the broccoli cheddar soup too. My husband got the club and it was huge and delicious too. We had a large party and with one server it made for slow getting our food. He did his best.

if you are in or near Salem, IN looking for some authentic, homemade from scratch recipes then this is a must stop. Located in the square there is plenty of seating family and kid friendly. The ambiance is very welcoming and the owner and staff are very friendly. There is something here for everyone and the portion sizes are excellent. I had the grilled chicken salad and the roasted Brussel sprouts. Delicious! Highly recommended.

Website states closed Sunday but we tried Sunday brunch 10:30-2:00. Arrived @ 1:00. Food Bar only. The only breakfast food I ate was fried potatoes and they were good. My salad was good. Cheese potato soup was lacking potatoes. Would not even try awful looking chicken; pork roast ok but coldish. Roasted vegetables were way too hot, not as in spicy hot or heat hot just too much pepper; I could not eat.

Husband tried fried bologna, not good; sausage links, cold. Pan fried chicken VERY dark and tasted burnt. He said his pork roast was cold.

A variety of bread options. Scrambled eggs, French toast was available as well as oatmeal with a large variety of toppings.

Breakfast might be an option but definitely no more brunches for us.

We stopped by for dinner on our travels through southern Indiana and so glad we did. We ordered the fried pickles, they looked like french fries! Tasty! We had Salmon with roasted vegetables. One of the best salmon’s we’ve had. Also the Bacon Jam Burger with Beer Battered Fries had so much flavor, more than we we were expecting. Finally the large Pork Tenderloin with gravy threw it over the top. So worth the trip in to eat some from scratch amazing food! Thank you for making my birthday dinner memorable! ♥️

Raquel’s is in competition for one of the better restaurants in Salem. Their brunch buffet had a really good mix of breakfast and home-cooked meals, like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Really solid stuff. Better to go here and support a local business owner than to a chain that has nothing to do with Salem.

We were looking for something new when my search landed on Raquel ‘s. I ordered the house salad with the berry vinaigrette & a loaded baked potato. My husband ordered the Club with tater tots. For starters, the baked potato was the best dang baked potato that I have had in a long time. It didn’t need anything added to it for taste. My husband was impressed with his club sandwich, he commented that the onion tasted like it was straight from the garden. We will be ordering from here again. I’m glad we decided to try something new.

Just got done have dinner for Valentine’s and the service was wonderful. The staff works so well as a team and we’re all happy to help with anything that we needed. The restaurant ran very efficiently and calmly (which is something you don’t see in the restaurant industry often). The food was wonderful and the pricing was an amazing deal for Valentines. We live about 40 mins away and wanted to try out a new place this year and I think it’s safe to say we will be returning!

First off, I like the location and atmosphere of this place. I have been here twice now and I’m completely surprised there isn’t many people here. This place should be poppin’!!!

Service was excellent, I was seated quickly and the server was very adamant on providing everything I needed.

I had the chicken wings for an appetizer… delicious!! The bourbon sauce was different but excellent!

For the main course I had the Reuben sandwich and chips. Excellent cook and presentation!

Over all I really enjoyed this place! Hope to see more people here in the future!

Update: menu change? Breaded tenderloin and potato chips. All house made. It was killer awesome!
Buffet resumes Sunday.

Very high quality food on the buffet. Not a super large variety, but its all good. Salad was very fresh with what I suspect were all house dressings. I had the balsamic dressing. It was killer! They still have the breakfast bar going too if that’s what you prefer. Or, breakfast and lunch for one price! Oh, the interior is very nice. Table cloths and China plates, but not pretentious. Only complaint is that the staff are multitasking and some times you just have to flag someone down. I saw a nearby table go from content to grouchy because no one came by to offer them the check at the end of their meal.
