I ordered two tahari from Mehfil Kitchen Skokie, and honestly, they were extremely disappointing. If this is called tahari, I’d rather stop eating tahari altogether. The taste, spices, and quality were all below average. I strongly recommend not buying tahari from here.

Based on 4.7 review on google, we thought let’s give them a try. Our visit didn’t find this place at that level.
To begin with, parking is limited. It is self-service concept unless you know someone in Kitchen or owner, they will bring food to you. Only one menu card at the register. Unusual seating arrangements. We try to order couple things out of menu, and cashier said “we don’t have that” for example, “rumali roti”. Food took long time to arrive. Out of few dishes we ordered, one was under cooked. I told cashier about undercooked chicken but didn’t get anywhere since he kept saying “no, it is cooked”. Naan was overcooked. It appears Naan is not made in restaurants. It appears that roti bought from patel brothers and cooked and again and served to customer. Desert (gulab jambu) was not freshly made as you can taste that it is from the is containers they sell you at grocery stores.

Had a wonderful dinner at Mehfil! The food never disappoints, both the taste and the portion sizes are excellent. It’s not a fast-food place, so expect a bit of wait while they prepare everything fresh, but it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend trying the Chicken 65 and Khatti Dal. Their fried rice and noodles are also really good. The menu is budget-friendly, and the ambiance adds to the overall great dining experience.

Mehfil Kitchen is truly a hidden gem! I honestly don’t know why I didn’t discover this place earlier. I’ve had mutton biryani at many spots, including the so called “best places” on Devon Avenue, and I can confidently say these guys really know what they’re doing. The taste was absolutely on pointexactly how authentic biryani should be.This was my first visit, and Brother Ismail welcomed me with such a warm and genuine smile. I had come all the way from Naperville and was excited to try a Hyderabadi restaurant after a long time, so I decided to give this place a shot. They informed me that the biryani would take about 30 minutes to cook, which I actually appreciated because it meant I was getting it freshly prepared and the aroma proved it!

The flavors were very authentic, and this biryani can definitely compete with other top restaurants. I would absolutely visit again, even making the drive from Naperville it’s totally worth the time and distance.
The only issues I faced were with the heater and seating arrangement. It was quite cold inside, and the HVAC really needs attention ASAP. Also, the self-service setup could be improved. I personally don’t mind it, but many customers prefer full service in a restaurant.
The price is very reasonable considering the quantity and quality. I originally felt this place deserved 4 stars, but the hospitality of Ismail and the other staff member truly pushed it to 5 stars for me. For the owners: please fix the seating and HVAC this place has amazing potential!

Hands down one of the best biryanis I’ve had in Chicago! The rice was flavorful, the chicken was tender.
Also, Talawa Ghosht with Daal and Zeera Rice — everything was perfectly cooked, rich in taste, and full of that real mehfil-style spice and aroma. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. Definitely one of the best desi spots in Skokie! ❤️

Very healthy menu with excellent taste. Great customer service, chef is very professional and hospitable. Authentic Hyderabad food. Every day new meal menu. I tried their kaju rice and tomato chutney 10/10 in taste, portion size is enough for 2 people, best hyderabadi food in Chicago. They have free parking also.
