Yummy Italian-style cafe and bakery serving a wide variety of viennoiserie , cookies, cupcakes, pies and cakes. Perfect to enjoy with espresso or coffee.
Ready-to-go Italian sandwiches served on housemade focaccia are solid. A simple Mortadella with Sun-dried Tomato, yum. A constantly revolving soup of the day as well as breakfast items make for a full-service cafe, with options for anybody.
Sun-filled outdoor seating great for people watching in Castro.

Okay so I went to Poesía Cafe with the intention of only getting breakfast there. I had seen on Yelp the beautiful sandwiches and coffees that other folks had shown and I wanted to check it out.
As I entered the individual behind the cash register greeted me with a big smile and welcomed me to the store. He asked me if I needed any help in selecting any items considering I had told him it was my first time there.
I ended up getting two pastries and a breakfast croissant which were both delicious.
I’m not going to lie I like the service that I received, the tastiness of the food, and the colorful atmosphere that I decided to go back for lunch.
I ended up getting a Caprice style sandwich which was delicious. And I ordered another two pastries so that I could take home with me.
Both times I would have liked to have stayed and eaten at the restaurant unfortunately I had meetings. I can say though in both instances the restaurant was perfect for having conversations either inside or outside. It didn’t feel overly crowded even though it was so close to the Castro. Highly recommend.

Walking into the Poesia Cafe you are greeted with a smile from the barista as well as an artistic display of beautiful croissants and other pastries. Hard to choose from the variety offered but I went with the Vanilla Custard Croissant, my wife got a Chocolate Croissant, and we shared a Bacon Egg & Tomato Croissant. I had a Double Cappuccino, my wife a Cortado, and I grabbed a Cold Brew on the way out. Everything was 10 out of 10! Friendly and quick service, clean tables, cozy decor inside. Would return daily if I was a local 🙂

Such a charming café with high-quality coffee and delightful pastries. What makes it extra special for me is that the coffee is served in a proper ceramic cup — a small detail that makes the whole experience feel so much more enjoyable

Look, I’m sure this place is good at other things but good Lord do not order the cookie. It was insultingly bad. In middle school we had cookie giveaway but no one wanted it bc it tasted like cardboard. This was worse. And they charge $4.50 for it hahahaha. Just take it off the menu. Or they should go eat an even low-end cookie anywhere else and you’ll realize what you’ve been doing to people The cookie is 0 stars, the 2 stars are bc i wish i didnt have to be mean review guy but its just that bad haha
Reply: nah, thats not it. If it was people who’d never had a cookie or who enjoyed cardboard i guess they’d like this. I was there at 1pm, wasnt like it was old. Maybe a rival bakery snuck in a DUD to thwart you

ugh this place is not consistent the first time i came in here i had the best matcha latte i have ever had. beautiful bright green color, delicious taste- unfortunately ive been back twice and the matcha is milky, either they dont put enough matcha or they are batching too much and it loses its flavor. so sad i would love a consistently good matcha here!
