Bafang Dumpling Santa Clara
Reviews
I appreciated that they have vegetarian potstickers as well, which is a great option for anyone looking for veg-friendly items.
Portions were generous, prices were affordable, and the overall value was excellent. I didn’t get a chance to try their noodle soup this time, but I’m definitely coming back for it.
The staff were super friendly, and the space was clean with well‑spaced tables, making the dining experience even better.
Absolutely fantastic new spot in Santa Clara!
I had the pleasure of visiting Bafang Dumpling during their Friends & Family preview, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The restaurant itself is bright, modern, and beautifully designed — high ceilings, warm lighting, and plenty of natural sunlight make it a comfortable and welcoming space.
Now, let’s talk food — the dumplings and potstickers are outstanding! The texture is perfect: crispy on the bottom, juicy and flavorful inside. I especially loved the Bafang Signature Potstickers and Corn & Chicken Dumplings — they taste fresh, with that classic Taiwanese comfort-food balance of savory and delicate. The Corn Chowder was creamy and hearty, ideal for pairing with dumplings.
The menu offers great variety too — from Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and Pork Chop Rice to vegetarian options — all at reasonable prices. You can tell they take pride in both quality and presentation.
Service was friendly, fast, and professional. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be part of the opening, and it created a very positive atmosphere.
This place is going to be a hit in Santa Clara — perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a casual meet-up. Highly recommend trying it before the lines get long!
Signature Noodles had chili oil and peanut sesame flavor. Really like this dish.
The Braised pork belly had sweet flavor and so easy to eat. Was good too. Porkchop was coated with some type of flour and fried, very tender.
The dumplings were ok and I’ve tried the Spicy Wonton (spicy), Signature Potstickers and Corn and Chicken Potstickers. They have a condiment area which had: soy sauce, sesame oil soy sauce, garlic sauce.
Fried chicken had a mild 5 slice flavor. Crispy bread crumb coating and juicy dark meat inside.
Nice open high ceiling dining area. Relaxed atmosphere. Line moved pretty quickly and food came out fast despite busy dinner time. Reasonably priced especially the Combo menu. Staff were nice too.
Parking garage across the street with minimal cost but could be free. Street and parking lot parking were free.
I went to their soft opening (starting from Nov 3rd to Nov 13th, 11am – 830PM), with their official opening weekend starting on Nov 14th.
Food: Overall 4/5
Despite the fact that it’s just a soft opening, they seem to have their food staples down. I had the original potstickers (4.5/5) , their corn (3.5/5) and hot and sour (4/5) soups, and their pork chop and belly rice (4/5).
Potstickers are their signature, and it did not disappoint. I think they probably could have been cooked a little bit longer to give it a tiny bit more crunch, but overall they had great taste and texture. They’re more filling than you would think too. They have the garlic and vinegar sauces on the side of the restaurant as well with a kind of a sauce bar.
I also tried a bit of the beef noodle soup although I was already getting full. I think I might be judging it more harshly because of that but I’d give it a 3.75/5 relative to beef noodle soup you can get in Taiwan – a little bland yet still salty in terms of taste. However, compared to the options you can get in the area, I’d say it’s a 4.5/5. The noodle texture itself is great and the portion size is also great. What’s interesting is that they won a beef noodle soup award in Taiwan (even though it’s a chain) back in 2024.
They also have this combo box that I didn’t get to try, it’s like panda express or other similar places where you pick a carb, a meat, and 2 sides – looks decent but I would say the volume/value seems a little lacking.
Value: 4/5
It’s definitely relatively more expensive than Bafang in Taiwan, but given it’s in this very expensive plaza and a lot of the other restaurants here have a pretty serious upcharge (looking at you Lee’s Sandwich), it’s actually pretty good value – especially because the portion sizes are pretty large.
Service: 4/5
Caveat this is the soft opening stage, but food took quite a while to come out. I think it took around 15 min to get our items. The servers and cashiers were nice and helpful though.
One super big positive is they have a very clearly labelled allergy chart (although somewhat simplified, it’s still very useful)
Atmosphere: 5/5
Big, wide, open, airy, love it.
Location: 4/5
It’s actually a great location but parking will be a pain as it’s in the same area as the Whole Foods. There’s a less used parking lot in the back that has wide open spaces but it’s not as readily apparent you can park there and it’s also a bit further away.
Conclusion: This is an easy call for me, I’m definitely going to be a regular here
Soup is tasty and the beef chunk is thick with good quality. The noodles and soup are delicious.
The number one combo contains 12 pot sticks and hot&sour soup (or corn chowder). They are good too.
One thing worth to mention is the payment doesn’t display any tip options. So I simply pay the price+tax without hassle of choosing tip percentage.
The interior is all high ceilings. Very comfortable seating and atmosphere.
The serving speed was about the same as in Taiwan; I got my food in around 15 minutes. The potstickers weren’t fried long enough, so the bottoms weren’t crispy. The braised pork chop rice was tasty, and both the corn soup and hot and sour soup were decent—probably because they came from a central kitchen, so the quality was consistent.
The people at the next table told us the Taiwanese beef noodle soup was delicious, but the broth was only warm, not hot.
The meat in beef noodle soup was very tender and the dumplings were reasonably good. The sesame noodles tasted more like peanut sauce. The noodles were nice and chewy.
For fast casual fare, it’s decent. It got very crowded at lunch time. I suggest you come at off hours if you don’t want to wait too long.
I feel that there are too many large tables and not enough smaller tables. I guess hope that strangers don’t mind sitting at the same table. But I don’t think that’s a popular practice here.
