Taco Gonzales is a Mexican homestyle restaurant on the corner of Avenue J & division. I decided to stop in on my lunch and pick up some food to go. Instead of a plate, I sometimes like to grab a combination of “finger foods”. For lunch, I decided to grab two regular carbs asada soft tacos, a crunchy Carnitas taco, and a carne Asada sope. Not that many places have sopes, and I was very happy that they had them. The food was delicious and made just right. The soft tacos tasted like street tacos and the carne Asada was well seasoned. The Carnitas were very crispy and the crunchy taco was very delicious. The sope was very delicious and I recommend that everyone tries sopes every chance they get. There’s a very chill vibe in the restaurant and you can tell everything is homemade. The prices are also very good too. Overall, I had a great experience and I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the food.

I happened to go here one day looking to grab some tacos and noticed they had buche on the menu. I ended up having a buche burrito and it was delicious! I asked if this shop was partnered with the Gonzales meat market a few doors away and they confirmed it. No wonder their meats are so fresh and tasty. Love this place.

This was once our favorite Mexican joint. It was taken over by new folks who are less generous with portions, and not as talented in the kitchen. We still eat here and enjoy the fare. Good food at fair prices. Ambiance is not really a factor…its simple and clean, we eat in on occasion when very hungry, usually we go home to eat from here. We recommend the quesidilla combos, our favorite everytime.

Please add seasoning to food! We ordered Carnitas tacos and Carne Asada tacos. Both were very bland; no flavor. The green sauce was watery and flavorless. U can cook better! Flavor, seasoning, salt?
