Since the one near me closed about 7 yrs ago I was pleasantly suprised this location was open. Food was just like I remembered it and the waitress was on point. Very happy and hope to return if traveling through the area again.

My experiences here always seem to turn out “just okay”. Basically depending on your taste buds obviously, the food selections can be either very tasty or just bland or just plain nasty. I have experienced all 3 of these on my trips here. But overall in my opinion they are ok. I would only recommend you eat here at least one time for yourself to get a feel of how your tongue will react to their food. They are a franchise and this particular location is the only one in the entire state of Virginia. They have another Ponderosa but its somewhere in West Virginia. Enjoy!

This place brought back some childhood memories! I didn’t even know Ponderosa was still a thing until we caught the sign whilst driving!
Staff was wonderful. Attentive, friendly, courteous.
Food was exactly as i remembered from my childhood. Canned veggies swimming in hot water and margarine. Fresh hot yeasty rolls. Creamy cheesy mac and cheese. Fresh veggies and watery ranch on the salad bar. Passable steaks, no seasoning, but cooked almost to order.
We will absolutely stop here next time we’re traveling through.

A fairly average and worn in buffet popular with the locals. The wait staff knew just about everyone coming in through the door. Most things were fairly oily and buttery, but I’ve gotta say the fried chicken was shockingly good. Not bad for 8 bucks.

My #1 buffet spot ever right here in Asland VA. Love the homely non crowded atmosphere. It’s always a pleasure eating here. The food taste good as well. 1 of their biggest fans .

Friendly and capable staff. Buffet was well maintained. Senior discount was nice.
Not very clean; salt & pepper shakers greasy. Underside of the tables very greasy when I used the corner to push out of my seat. Vegetables so overly cooked they barely had any color left. I love vegetables but I did not eat any as they looked unappetizing. I would not do the buffet again but I might try the steaks.
