If you find yourself in Boonton, NJ, make a beeline for Tentaciones Colombianas Bakery & Café. This family-owned gem serves up the kind of Colombian comida that makes your heart sing and your taste buds dance.

From the moment we walked in, Julian, the owner, greeted us with the warmth of a long-lost amigo. You can sense his deep pride in sharing the flavors of Colombia with everyone who steps through the door. It’s that kind of hospitality that makes you feel right at home.

I opted for the Colombian Tamal, a delightful parcel of goodness wrapped in a plantain leaf. Instead of the usual cornmeal, Julian uses a flavorful rice that transports you straight to the Andean regions. The pollo, Castilla, and chicharrón blended together beautifully, making it a dish I can’t stop thinking about. My partner chose the Caldo de Costilla, a hearty beef rib soup that was light yet satisfying. It’s a perfect example of comfort food, filled with tender potatoes and just the right touch of cilantro.

As if that wasn’t enough, Julian surprised us with a free sample of Pan de Queso, fresh from the oven. Imagine gooey cheese wrapped in a golden crust—pure bliss.

To wash it all down, we enjoyed a refreshing limonada de panela that complemented the meal perfectly. The decor transports you to Colombia with charming Casitas and vibrant images lining the walls, creating a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.

The food was a fiesta for the senses, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was inviting. I left with a full belly and a happy heart, already dreaming of my return in November for their famous Pernil.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a taste of Colombia right here in New Jersey.

Decor is vibrant, colorful, and casual. Lots of places to sit. Staff is always super friendly and very helpful for explaining things. Lots of personal attention if you have questions about the food or any allergy issues. A lot of times, staff have offered to get me things fresh out of the oven. Their pan de queso and pastries are absolutely some of the best I’ve had anywhere. I usually come for a morning coffee and a snack, and have not had a chance to try their short rib soup. But based on how good it looks, it is very high on my list for a lunch meal.

This place was a great experience.
Me and my family were in the area and we wanted to stop by for a coffee and nice snack. We tried the empanadas as appetizers and they were amazing. We couldn’t resist to try the entrees, the food was so on point and delicious, really fair timing, and the variety they offer is more than impressive. The restaurant itself is very clean, the staff is passionate and friendly with everyone.
The atmosphere is great, and we ended up taking a bakery gift from them as we were leaving.
Highly suggested!!

They have the best chicken empanadas. I prefer the Colombian style. I treat myself in my staff to them every Monday. they also make a great “mini piasa.”
Steph is always friendly and they have my order ready when I walk in. I was there in early January when there was a pair of bald eagles flying over their store Main Street pretty cool. I recommend them if you like this kind of food.

Whenever we go to Boonton, this is a place my GF and I love to stop at. She is Gluten Free and this place has extensive GF options! Not only are they extensive, but they are excellent! Everything we have gotten here has been excellent; food that just makes you melt! And another upside, the prices are fantastic as well! I would recommend these cheeseballs – they are very special!

Such a great hidden restaurant in town! My boyfriend is from Colombia and so I surprised his family by bringing some of their favorite Colombian treats! They said it was amazing and reminded them of home. Everything tasted delicious and was so fresh! Service was quick and staff was very friendly!

Edit: dined in and it was amazing! Portions are huge and the food is delicious! Highly recommend! The steak was super juicy and flavorful! The arepas are so delicious! Thr eggs were so filled with flavor. The lulu was different taste but good! The treats are so wonderful too. I still order birthday treats from here. Service is wonderful and the SOUP IS TO DIE FOR!!!

Great Colombian spot. Love their short rib soup—just how my mother in law makes it! Last time the short rib was a little bit tough but I went in almost at closing. Empanadas were amazing! The owner was super accommodating to everyone who walked in on a super busy evening while the Boonton street festival was going on.

I bought churros and tres leches cake for a party. The churros was made while I was there–one didn’t make it to the party. Warm it was the best I ever had. Even at the party, people the cold churros and were amazed by the cake. ¡Lo mejor del mundo!

Was never recognized, ignored and people that came after me while I waited 10 minutes, got served before me. I guess my $$ is no good in their establishment. That’s ok there are other Latino bakeries in the neighborhood and probably better. A piece of advice to the owner of the business first impression are everything in business. It could make your business better with great service or in my experience break you. Your business isn’t the only business in town.
