Gotta admit, I went into this with the whole mindset of “taking one for the team”, since, well, it’s Pei Wei….
Planning on a take out, I parked and went in. I was greeted by a very friendly young lady who promptly took my order and gave me a hockey puck buzzer thingy.
I barely had time to open up my phone and check email before the buzzer went off and my order was ready.
Cut to home. As I said, it was takeout, so expectations were pretty low right out of the chute.
Gotta admit (again) I was surprised. The entree was just over $13 with tax and for that I got a respectable amount of food. I went with the Hot Honey Chicken and steamed rice, and it turned out to be amazingly good. Just the right amount of heat, plenty of flavor and everything cooked properly.
The place itself is fairly small with limited seating, so I get the impression the business model is “get your food and go”, which is fine. I read online they are only open until 6pm, so that’s gonna limit options to lunch time for me.
I’m notoriously snooty about franchises, preferring local joints when possible, but I wanted to give Pei Wei a shot just so I’d know, and this time, I’m glad I did.
The service was great though. Staff was nice but they seemed a short staffed. No manager appeared to be in the store. This Pei Wei doesn’t seem to have much traffic in the evening. So, place is rather clean.
Parking is slim.
I like the decor and the booth-like seating was plush and comfy.
Despite its smaller form factor compared to other Pei Wei restaurants the quality comes out the exact same!
The food came out quick, hot, and clearly made to order. They just opened this location and it’s beautiful, clean, and holds a higher standard compared to its local competitors.
I highly recommend trying the chicken lettuce wraps or the Firecracker Tofu!
5/5 stars will definitely be back!
And it’s not just the Korean BBQ. Pad Thai? Fishy. General TSO’s? Fishy. Sesame chicken? Somehow… also fishy. I lived in Thailand for ten years, and trust me—shrimp paste is in half the cuisine, but nothing tasted like fish unless it was, you know… actual fish.
At this point, I’m convinced Owasso has discovered a secret, unstoppable fish essence that seeps into everything. Five stars for fishiness, zero stars for literally everything else.
The spicy noodles is really spicy .
