We had incredible service, despite it being a busy Saturday night. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond for us the entire night. We were celebrating birthdays and the staff went out of their way to make us feel special by surprising us with dessert! The food, wine, and drinks were absolutely amazing…we couldn’t stop talking about it. Definitely make a reservation on the weekend because it gets. busy! But it is by far our new favorite spot in Cleveland!
The appetizers were also delicious.
Our server was sweet and so attentive.
All 8 of us left happy and very full.
I had a 7:30 reservation to celebrate my birthday. I’d been wanting to check this place out and liked the menu. Upon entry, the restaurant is cozy, intimate, and well curated. That’s likely the only positive I’ll mention.
Our server, whose name I believe was Leah, was initially pleasant but that didn’t last. We ordered cocktails, and another guest and I didn’t enjoy our drinks and asked if we could swap them. I apologized for the inconvenience and explained that the drinks simply weren’t to my liking. I didn’t care if they were comped—I wasn’t going to drink them anyway. From that point on, her tone, energy, and demeanor immediately soured for reasons I do not understand.
We ordered several dishes to share: gambaretti, Siciliana salad, ravioli, boneless ribeye with Chianti butter, branzino, and baked potato. From drinks to first course, we waited about 30 minutes. The shrimp were fine but nothing special. The Siciliana salad was bland and one-note. The ravioli was good but arrived cold—it was the best thing we had, so it was a shame it wasn’t served at the right temperature.
After that, it took another full hour for mains. During this time, our server never checked in, offered an explanation, or apologized. We were starving but didn’t complain, we were trying to make the best of the evening.
When the ribeye and branzino arrived, the Chianti butter was missing. I mentioned it, and the server seemed sooo irritated with no apology. The branzino, which is supposed to be deboned, had numerous bones—far beyond an errant bone. The ribeye arrived with a very small bone on the plate; none of us thought it was bone-in, as it was unusually small, almost decorative and not attached to the steak. The steak itself was high quality and cooked perfectly but lacked any flavor of note, as did the Chianti butter. The baked potato was completely unsalted. Watching the table next to us aggressively salt theirs confirmed this wasn’t isolated. I’m genuinely surprised a “luxury” restaurant would serve an unsalted baked potato or so many under seasoned dishes. Honestly, you could get a better baked potato at Texas Roadhouse and probably have a better experience overall
Despite waiting over an hour for food, there was a clear push to turn the table quickly. Four staff members came by asking to clear plates while we were actively eating with plenty of food left.
Because it was my birthday, I ordered dessert—the “raw” cheesecake. It took 20 more minutes to arrive. My friend has a nut allergy. The menu did not indicate the dessert contained nuts, nor did our server ask about allergies. She took a small bite and immediately started reacting to what had to be a nut component in the crust.
When we requested the check, we noticed we were charged for a bone-in ribeye, roughly $20 more than the boneless version we explicitly ordered. When we asked for clarification, the server was visibly annoyed, rolled her eyes, spoke with who I assume was the manager, and returned with a revised bill. She leaned down and said, “You ordered bone-in. I heard bone-in. You ate bone-in—but here’s the boneless price,” in a rude and condescending tone, as if she were doing us a favor rather than correcting her own error.
While slow kitchens (we were there for over 3 hrs) or imperfect food are never the server’s fault and I’d never blame them, her attitude made an already disappointing night far worse. For this reason alone, we left a poor tip for the server, which I never do.
In all my years of dining across many cities and countries, I have never encountered a server so unnecessarily hostile and uncaring about the satisfaction of diners, especially those celebrating an occasion. I will not be returning and cannot, in good faith, recommend this restaurant to others. If you are looking for good food and decent treatment, you could go literally anywhere else.
