Came for the breakfast and we were very impressed. The biscuits and grits are phenomenal.
Everything else, including the eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwich, and breakfast tacos were also above average for a typical breakfast cafe, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. Coffee is limited to cold brew, which was fine. We still highly recommend for a quick and easy breakfast, very kid friendly, and we will definitely be back to try the proper lunch offerings.

The food was absolutely amazing. We had smothered chicken over rice, collared greens, Mac and cheese, okra, and banana pudding. Everything was top tier. It’s counter style service, and the gentleman serving us was so kind and friendly. There are plenty of tables for indoor dining. I’m definitely coming back and highly recommend Hot Stuff.

Came on a Sunday afternoon. This is a meat +3 concept. Basically you get one meat and three sides. The portions are generous and things that can be prepared to order like a fried pork chop are done so. The mains and sides change sometimes daily. I had the fried pork chop, green beans with red potatoes, mac & cheese, cornbread, and Black Eyed Peas and rice. My friend had the St. Louis style ribs, smothered okra with tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and collard greens. The fried pork chop is thin and well seasoned. The cornbread was good. The macaroni and cheese was just OK. The Black Eyed Peas and rice were good. Just needed a little bit of hot sauce which they already had on the table. The ribs did not disappoint. They have the South Carolina mustard sauce on them. In addition to barbecue sauce they were smoked perfectly and wonderfully tender. The service was good. The restaurant was clean. There was plenty of seating a perfect place to go on a Sunday afternoon. They have daily specials so I’ll definitely be back to try some. The specials are posted on their Instagram. Some of the specials include a big bowl of pasta on Mondays fried catfish on Fridays and a wing special on Wednesdays. Check them out!

So I will start with the positive here. First off the mac & cheese was phenomenal by far some of the best mac & cheese I have ever ate. The smothered cabbage was also great. The biscuit was also very very good. I also got the banana foster pudding which was really really good. Now the negative.. I got the hamburger steak and I’m sorry ro say that is was not good at all. No flavor, and overcooked to where it was hard. Also it seems as if maybe it’s a frozen burger patty also. I did want the fried chicken but didn’t see it so I assumed maybe they was sold out it but after I got m play, it looks like somebody else ordered fried chicken after and it looks like they keep it in a hot box behind the hot steam table. Which was disappointing because someone don’t know they would just assume that they were out of it which I probably should’ve asked, but I didn’t.
Will I go back to this place, most definitely just because the sides were really good and next time I’ll ask for the fried chicken, but definitely the hamburger steak is not it.

Meat & three joint with a fun environment. Grab a tray, look at the options on the wall or along the line. You cannot go wrong. The wings are delicious… I’d call them smoky, but not didn’t seem slow smoked to me. The sauce also delicious. I enjoyed all of my sides. The cucumber salad was a pleasant fun surprise that I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the orange color. The green and okra hit the spot and warmed my heart. Staff were friendly and helpful. You should come.

Hot Stuff is exactly that. The cafeteria-style setup makes you feel instantly at home, and as a New Yorker I was grateful that the staff took the time to walk me through every dish I asked about. The food here was easily the best we had in New Orleans. I was shocked at how much I loved the chicken wings since the sauce sounded unconventional, but they turned out incredible. Pickle cheese might just be my new favorite food discovery. Grab a cold beer, head to the backyard, and settle into one of the city’s true staples. It’s the perfect blend of low-and-slow meats with fresh seafood, served up with genuine hospitality that makes you want to come back the next day.

If I lived in New Orleans I would single-handedly keep Hot Stuff in business. Got the stewed chicken on my last visit bc they were out of fried chicken, but if fried is available 1000% get that. Best mashed potatoes ever.

I have yet to have something that wasn’t delicious. Stewed chicken, catfish, meatloaf, wings, ribs. The thin fried pork chops might be my favorite. For the sides, again, they are all good. Between my partner and I, we tend to rotate through the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens and black eyed peas. Super friendly staff make this an almost weekly go-to for a casual lunch or dinner.

Yes yes yes. I finally was able to sit down and eat here while I was in town and it’s 10/10. I came on a Sunday when they had meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but of course I had to get some sides to try. My favorites were the smothered green beans and potatoes and pickle cheese (enough to where I’d get those every time I come in if they’re on the menu). Also, those ✨wings✨ omg. They’re habanero pineapple white BBQ wings, but don’t be scared – they’re not overly spicy. I’d say they’re more smoky than spicy. So good. The smothered okra and pot roast were also flavorful and delicious.
The restaurant itself has a very retro/vintage vibe that I think goes really well with the homemade cooking, and the service is very good. I was able to bring my favoritest boy (my dog Cashew) onto the back patio where we enjoyed a late lunch. I’ll be back!
