If you’re anywhere near Hyden, KY, you absolutely have to stop by Mi Costa Mexican Restaurant on Main Street. I’ve eaten at countless Mexican restaurants over the years, but Mi Costa truly stands out for its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and consistently delicious food. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted like family. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest has an amazing dining experience.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of classic Mexican dishes, and everything I’ve tried so far has been fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the prices are more than fair for the quality you receive. Their fajitas arrive sizzling hot, packed with tender meat and perfectly grilled vegetables. The enchiladas are rich and authentic, and the tacos have that perfect balance of seasoning and texture. Even the chips and salsa, often overlooked at other places, are consistently crisp, fresh, and full of flavor.

The portion sizes are very generous for the price. I got the fajitas, and they were the best ones i’ve had in a while. The prices are very fair. The staff was very friendly, and kind. The restaurant is comfortable and nicely decorated. This will be our go-to place to eat. I was also very impressed with how quick we got our food- the place was very busy, with not only take out orders but people coming in for dinner.

I picked up an order of Pollo Bandido and it was so good ! I’m sure it looked amazing when it was first cooked, my 15-minute drive home probably didn’t do it any favors appearance-wise.

July 13th I had a carry out order from this place. I got the fajita Acapulco which according to the menu they posted was $14.99 I also got a Cup of queso. For one meal and a cup of cheese I paid $39.18 which is crazy considering how the portion sizes were not even remotely large enough to warrant that large of a price I also have the recipe to prove this. The food wasn’t very good, the vegetables were mushy like they had hardly even been cooked and the meat was soggy and tasted like it was barely seasoned. Needless to say will not be returning.
