LuAnn’s Drive Thru | Toast
But like any artisan, we have fun getting creative in the kitchen, too with our daily and seasonal specials! Location. 140 West Road, Ellington, CT 06029.

Came here last week for a breakfast sandwich and a small latte. I have ordered their breakfast sandwiches in the past, but was extremely disappointed when I got home to see how tiny their sandwiches have become. The latte was fine, but for a total over $15 I definitely expected better. I work in the service industry and completely understand inflation/”shrink-flation”, but I think I’d have a safer bet at Starbucks next time around.

I can’t say enough good things about Luann’s Bakery in Ellington, CT! I reached out last minute hoping to get some Halloween treats made for my child’s daycare, and they absolutely came through. Not only did they pull it off in a short amount of time, but they also went out of their way to make sure everything was allergen-friendly and safe for all the kids.
The treats were delicious, beautifully decorated, and clearly made with care. The staff was friendly, professional, and genuinely cared about helping make the daycare party special. If you’re looking for custom desserts, cakes, or holiday treats in Ellington, Luann’s Bakery is the place to go.
Thank you, Luann’s Bakery, for making so many little ones (and parents) smile!

EDIT 2.14.2026
After speaking with Josh and providing ongoing feedback, the output at LuAnn’s has been more consistent. The team has clearly made an effort to improve. There have been a few misses, a few amazing lattes, but overall great lattes. I’m very pleased that Josh was willing to have the discussion with me and I look forward to even further improvement so that I can continue to support a wonderful local business.
The staff here is always wonderful but the output of the coffee is inconsistent. Every latte I order comes out differently. Sometimes they do a great job and it’s hot and the milk is foamy. Other times it’s cold and the milk is flat. It always feels like a gamble. I would rather support local but I know that Starbucks will give me the same output every time so the more I go to LuAnn’s the more I’d rather go to Starbucks.

Purchased a salad at drive thru. Description – greens, chicken, blue cheese crumbles, cranberries and spiced pecans. Price $16. Received a very small container mostly filled with greens (which was wilted, not crisp and actually had some slimy pieces) maybe 7-10 pieces of bland chicken and minuscule amount of blue cheese and cranberries. I opened the bag when I got home and thought they served me a 1/2 salad instead of the full and was so disappointed in the overall quality I got back in my car, drove back to the drive thru and requested my money back. The return was the only good part of the situation. The cashier was pleasant and the return was handled with no issues or questions.

Cafe kiosk located inside the Big Y Express, but don’t let the location fool you. Building is clean and inviting, with plenty of parking. Had a Spiced Brown Sugar Chai and Winter Cranberry Salad which were both off the specials menu, and both were delicious. Salad was a large portion and a nice blend of all ingredients, chai was sweeter than expected but was pleasantly spiced almost like eggnog. Friendly and quick service. As it is primarily a takeout/drive-thru location, be warned there is not much seating.

High quality bakery / coffee shop, mid range prices. Costs about the same as Starbucks but quality is infinitely better. Drove through just before 7am and there were quite a few customers in line which was great to see. I got an iced latte and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were really delicious. I like that this place seems to hold itself to a really high standard, even the drive thru is clean, modern and aesthetically pleasant. The girl at the window was really nice and surprisingly energetic for it being so early.

The summer strawberry salad is really good (altho expensive—$11.99), but seriously? Who made this? It’s a SALAD, not a sandwich—everything in it should be cut into bite-size pieces—just add dressing & chow down. And to make it more fun (& perhaps as evidence that this isn’t how it’s supposed to be done)—I wasn’t even given a knife! The first time I splurged on this, it was not done this way, the chicken was properly cut up. (I mean, seriously, for $11.99, YOU should be doing all the work.) I’ve had the same issue with Wendy’s summer strawberry salad (also good—for…$7.99, I think?)—one time cut up properly, another time like this. Wendy’s has sliced almonds, Luann’s has ricotta cheese—both good. But fyi if you’re at this location, there’s no Wendy’s nearby. I was also disappointed that I couldn’t get the same cookies here as I’ve gotten from their farmer’s market stand.

I’ve been to this drive through a couple times now, and the detail that they put in to making it as perfect as it is is exceptional. Staff is very polite, and food comes out quick and is delicious. I recommend anyone to come here and support this local business over any corporate giant!

I am not a coffee drinker, but hands down this has been the best hot chocolate that has come from a cafe that I have ever tasted personally. The workers are always kind and full of smiles. The only downside is if you are looking to sit and eat it is limited seating. They have other locations though.
