Eugene’s Sausage & Fries at Eavesdrop Brewery | Manassas VA
Reviews
The bratwurst was cooked perfectly and had more than enough toppings, the loaded fries were to die for, and they had a good selection of beverages to choose from. Plus, if you wanted anything else, the brewery next door provided further options.
All in all, it’s an excellent place to go for good food, a relaxing atmosphere, and some truly amazing events.
Also, not sure if the dogs/sausages always get served on a pretzel roll or if they just ran out of the regular rolls but the pretzel rolls were perfect and delicious.
This place was great.
Staff wasn’t as friendly as I would have expected for a small, local place to eat.
Outdoor seating is shared with other businesses on site.
This is a great place to come and meet friends and family, hang out and have a good time.
-The Veggie Sando is a vegetarian “sausage” on a hotdog bun with ketchup, mustard, onions and peppers. I’m not always in the mood for onions so sometimes I get it without the onions, however be aware that if you get it without onions they also leave off the peppers. Apparently they store the onions and peppers mixed together so you can either get both or neither. The vegan sausage is incredibly delicious and doesn’t taste too close to actual meat. If you are a vegetarian like myself who doesn’t like how meat tastes, you will probably find this “sausage” different enough from a real sausage to find enjoyable.
-The regular French fries come seasoned. They are delicious. Very flavorful. Among the best fries I’ve had (and I’m somewhat of a fry connoisseur). Contrary to what their website says you can only get the fries in one size. It is a large size and good for sharing.
-Their big soft pretzel is by far the best soft pretzel I’ve ever eaten. The bread is so fluffy and there is just the right amount of salt. The pretzel comes with a couple containers of things to dip the pretzel in. One is a delicious cheese sauce. I also enjoy dipping my fries in this sauce. And I didn’t try the second sauce, but probably will on a future visit.
The service is very good. The staff is very friendly and eager to answer questions and be of help. In my experience the food is usually prepared and ready in 5 to 10 minutes.
Eugene’s adjacent to Eavesdrop Brewery. So you get your food and then take it to the brewery to eat (or use the vast outdoor seating areas around the brewery). Eugene’s itself does not have its own eating area. There is plenty of parking. There are a number of businesses that share a sizable parking lot.
First off, for some reason I thought this place had indoor seating but it does not- outdoor only. So be sure to come on a day when it isn’t dreadfully hot like we did.
First impressions were ehh.. We came right at opening and it appeared that we were the first order or maybe second for the day. We waited 30 minutes for our food. For a nicer dine-in restaurant I think that 30 minutes is fine, but as a self-described “fast-casual” joint that is unacceptable. It was 12pm on a Thursday so I can’t imagine how long it would take when they’re actually busy.
I ordered the El Diablo because it was one of the few options that wasn’t doused in cheese and was listed as spicy with several exclamation points!! This was not spicy at all to my Jamaican taste buds. The sausage was good and flavorful, but definitely not spicy. The toppings were too sweet for me, and I had to scrape off most of it. The amount of toppings was just too much too- about twice the volume of the sausage itself. The pretzel bun was good, but the bread to meat ratio was a little off for me. I only needed half of the bun.
My sister got the Vegetable Sando, which she liked minus the awkward jalapeno that still had it’s stem on top of her sandwich.
We also got the house fries and cheese fries. The portions are absolutely gigantic. The house fries were good, but I did not try the cheese fries.
Overall, cool spot and atmosphere but know that it is outdoor only. Food is tasty, but the portions are way too large. They need to be about 1/3 of the size they currently serve. Service also needs to be a little faster if this is to be fast-casual. I don’t think I will be coming back here even though it was an overall good experience.
