We’ve been to Island Grindz twice now, after a friend in the area recommended it, and I’m honestly so glad they did. The pupu chicken and beef kalbi were deeeelicious — some of the best Polynesian food I’ve ever had.
Is it weird to admit that they have turned my entire family into pu-pu fiends?!
The flavors are amazing, the meat is super tender, and the portions are decent and satisfying. Both visits were consistent, and everyone there is friendly and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience even better.
I’m really happy to have found this place. If you’re craving good island comfort food, you won’t be disappointed.

Ordered the Mini Plate which was a lot of food and honestly more like a regular plate. The BBQ Teriyaki Chicken was to die for and packed with so much flavor that I barely needed to use the extra teriyaki sauce they provided. The macaroni salad was also some of the best I’ve ever had.
I definitely recommend stopping by Island Grinds if you are looking for delicious authentic Hawaiian food.

Was in town for a few days and my wife and I were looking for some Hawaiian style cuisine. Of all the places in the area, we decided on Island Grinds based on netizen feedback. I am so happy to say this place did not disappoint. Very top notch. Anytime you have to wait for your order that means it’s going to be GOOD! And it certainly was. We ordered the Mixed 3 combo of Pupu Chicken, Beef Teriyaki and Kailua Pig. What a combo! Not only that, the portions provided was quite a feast. The both of us were full on only one order. Kudos to Island Grinds, we are so glad we came to order take out dinner here! This has to be the best Hawaiian plate lunch/dinner places in the USA, including Hawaii! When we visit again we will definitely have at least a couple of meals here. Highly recommended!

We’ve been coming to Island Grinds for close to 10 years, and it never disappoints. Locally owned and family run — these are the types of places you come for real food! Every dish is made from scratch, full of authentic Polynesian flavor, and served with genuine island hospitality.
Even though we now live on the other side of town, it’s still worth the drive every time. Best Polynesian food in St. George, hands down!

We really like the flavor of the meats & sauce! The texture & consistency of the mac salad is good but it has way too much garlic salt. We noticed this last year and stopped coming but decided this week to give it another try. We would hope that the flavor of the meat would be the dominant flavor but the garlic in the mac salad overpowered it and left a bad aftertaste for the rest of the day. We didn’t notice this problem when they first opened but something has changed in the last couple of years. In the future, we will just order the teriyaki chicken.

I used to live here and I would come here weekly. I flew out to a conference in Vegas and rented a car just to come back and eat here. 10/10 recommend to everyone who visits. The Pupu chicken is hands down the best. Better than any I had in Hawaii.

I’m always satisfied when I eat here at Island Grinds. I’m always recommending this place to everyone. My go to is the Katsu chicken and Teri beef but the pupu chicken and Kalua pork hits. Honestly, everything on the menu is amazing. The staff are personable and if you become a regular, they remember your order. Highly highly recommend Island Grinds!!

Ordered the 2 meat plate and it took me two tries to finish it off. Had the pupu chicken and bbq teri chicken. Both are excellent. Mac salad is solid too. Prices seem fair, especially for the portion size. Lots of good food and friendly service, what else could you want?
