As a local, I frequent this spot regularly—and honestly, the service alone keeps me coming back. The food is artisanally crafted and made from scratch. My go-tos? The Kung Pao Chicken with grilled chicken with rice—both are consistently flavorful, satisfying, and feel like comfort food done right.
The chicken is always cooked perfectly, and the balance of flavors is spot-on. Medi and Dan behind the bar are incredible hosts. Their energy, attention, and genuine appreciation for regulars make every visit feel like home—even if I show up late. They’re always welcoming and happy to serve with a smile and conversation.
The fact that you can get this level of food and service 24/7 is exactly what South Bay has been missing. Whether I’m grabbing late-night bites or bringing friends for a chill night out, this place delivers—great atmosphere, warm service, and delicious, “homemade” food.
My only complaint? My odds at blackjack!
Otherwise, this is hands down my go-to in San Diego for great food and perfect service and close to home!
Only 2 things could’ve been better.
I asked for ground pepper and even mimed the grinding motion. She brought pepper in a shaker. Oh, well.
When I asked for the bill she came with her hand held device and announced OUT LOUD that it was $105.00.
My date shouldn’t hear the price of the tab. This really lacked finesse.
I didn’t say anything, but now regret it.
Please do better next time.
Our waiter was Alexander and he was honestly one of the best parts of this little gem. Great service, very attentive and helpful.
The atmosphere outside (terrasse) is great and relaxing.
We enjoyed one pizza, the Kung Pao chicken and the Miso Ramen.
Everything was absolutely delicious, with a special note for the Ramen that was just fabulous.
Thanks for that meal and experience!
Also ordered chicken Alfredo fettuccine, garlic chicken wings those were OK, chicken noodle soup which is also very good.
The female server, I believe her name is Claudia. She was new and lacked attention to detail and no multitasking skills whatsoever, I felt as she had never waitressed. Simple things like utensils, napkins, spoons for the soup, refilling our water glasses, leaving us unattended for long periods of time. And she stuck her thumb inside my soup bowl, she didn’t seem to know how to grab the bowl properly. Overall her service was terrible and I give her half a star.
Pepe, Mr. Do It ALL! Because of his attention we will return. The little extra effort that he made to make up for the lack of service from our server did not go unnoticed throughout the night he brought us appetizers’ and dessert on the house.
And the bloody Mary that took the waitress 20 minutes to never bring to the table LOL he made up for it by making a very strong bloody Mary for us.
In regards to the ambience and decor We loved it!
I believe it was a shorthanded problem … Never got our drinks refilled from the initial service (this is a big strike for me), they weren’t very busy. Some nice views in certain orientations in the outdoor dinning area. Guys should allow their ladies to sit in the booth with the West facing seat. The nature of the way the patio dining area is set up one person or side will have a pleasant view of the Bay and the Strand in the distance the other side will have an industrial view. I found it to be relatively pleasant even with the rush hour traffic noise from the freeway that was present but not overbearing or disruptive to conversation.
Happy Hour ( that’s the time period we experienced ) had some value perks that make it reasonable from a price stand point and they have a decent selection of plates to choose from … The bar tab is also lower.
They serve close to proper size portions. They have a mix of foods on the Menu which I found to provide variation and a broad choice without having a Three Ring Binder for a Menu. Overall, I intend to go back and try something else from the menu. Everything we did have was tasty. Hope this was helpful !
