Went in to try this place for lunch after hearing lots of good things online (Facebook and TikTok). First impressions the place is dingy. The tables and counter were sticky and they have 1 shared bathroom that was also dirty. But those aside we decided to give it a shot, again because of the great reviews online. We got 3 plates (2 chicken ad beef and 1 beef and shrimp) also ordered the dumplings and 6 white sauces (they charge 80¢ PER white sauce, none is complementary with your meals) all together it came to $57 before the service charge for using a card. I asked if i could only have broccoli on my meal and was informed the vegetables are mostly cabbage and you cannot edit them in anyway so it’s apparently a take them or leave them situation. The food itself didn’t take too long considering there were 3 orders ahead of ours (we were there maybe 15 minutes tops). Although the lady ahead of us asked them to change something on her order and the woman in the back flashed her a dirty look. Once getting the food and tasting it, we were pretty underwhelmed and disappointed. There was plenty of it but it was bland. Even though it was covered in sauce the food and rice had no flavor besides the charred bits on the meats from the grill. Even with the white sauce we paid for you aren’t getting any flavor besides bland and maybe some mayo. If you like a lot of food but don’t care about quality of taste this is the place for you. If you want true teriyaki flavor you’re best going someplace else.

I discovered this place through a foodie recommendation and decided to try it for lunch. The menu offers a wide variety of combo plates, which is appealing. We ordered three lunch combos, and the total came to about $40, which felt a bit high for what we received. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing—personally, it was among the weakest meals I’ve had in Wilmington.
The white sauce in particular tasted like inexpensive mayonnaise with paprika, which was off-putting and didn’t complement the dish at all.
On the positive side, the cashier was friendly, the restaurant was mostly clean, and the place was fairly busy, so it clearly appeals to many customers. While others may enjoy it, it just wasn’t a good fit for my taste.

Found this place on Facebook and it looked pretty good. So I visited after an appointment yesterday in Wilmington. The rice was delicious and so we’re the vegetables. The veggies were cooked just enough to be tender but not hammered. I ordered the salmon. It was served hot just off the grill but was overcooked and a bit dry. A little extra teriyaki did it fine. Portion was big enough I took home leftovers. The place was pretty busy at 10am and the traffic through was steady in the 30min we sat there. I would go back definitely, also my friend got the shrimp and the friggin shrimp was ON POINT! Cooked to perfection!

We went for the first time to try this place after seeing a video on FB. The people were really nice, but that’s as far as it goes for us. The price for what you get is crazy. The noodles you pay extra for and ours were super over cooked and very mushy. There is no taste of teriyaki at all. Even with the extra sauce you still don’t taste teriyaki. We will be sticking with the teriyaki place in the mall. 100% better than this!!

What a FANTASTIC little place tucked away off College. We went to this restaurant after a friend suggested it, and we were NOT dissapointed.
Ordering and waiting for your food is a bit tricky but if you pay attention to which plate is yours you won’t have a problem.
Portions are HUGE, it’s well cooked, and tastes fantastic!

This place is one of the best spots that I have gotten teriyaki food from. We came in and ordered. They cook the food right in front of you. Everyone working hard were really nice. The prices are good and definitely worth the food. I had the shrimp and scallops teriyaki with fried rice, so good hot and fresh. I also tried the shrimp and chicken teriyaki plate. So fresh and the vegetables were nice hot and crunchy. The white sauce is so good with a nice sweet taste. This place is a must try.

The food we ordered is fresh and delicious,
Dumplings were great. Shrimp was normal size and not overcooked. Noodles and fried rice were outstanding, High five to the team of the teriyaki plate, very well satisfied, would recommend to others

We should have taken the credit/debit card machine being down as a sign.
My roommate and I went in last week to try The Teriyaki Plate after seeing excellent video reviews on Facebook Reels. After she placed her order, the cashier let my roommate know that the CC machine was down and it was cash only. We don’t carry cash so she had to cancel the order and go somewhere else.
We called and the guy was very polite over the phone, assuring us that the CC machine was in working order. We both ordered Teriyaki Beef, Chicken, and Shrimp. The shrimp had seemingly no seasoning and no flavor. The beef was chewy and slimy. The chicken was a little slimy and gross. The teriyaki sauce was extremely bland. I wish I could rate the food less than 1 star.
They also charge for white sauce. 🙁
On a positive note, the rice was decent. We also got a steak and cheese eggroll and that was decent enough. The staff were also very nice while we were in the restaurant.
We paid a little over $42 for the two plates, two white sauce containers, and steak & cheese eggroll. I definitely felt a little cheated. I felt a little better about leaving this review when I saw others had similar experiences.
We are going to stick with Hibachi Bistro for our mid-range price Japanese food. I will henceforth refer to this place as The TeriYucky Plate.

Didn’t put my review the first time I came here last year so this will be a two in one.
First time it was amazing. Came in during a dry time and got the chicken and steak and cooked quickly. Portion was very generous and flavor was great! 5 stars
This past weekend I came back after talking all about the hype to my wife and brother. Came in during a very busy time but the wait was not bad at all. Portion for my wife and brother was fine. I got the steak and shrimp this time and I was very disappointed in the quantity of meat given to me! It was like the size of a small handful! I had to get going and just left it at that. Our order was part of a new batch of chicken cooked. Two plates that were for to-go pickup were loaded with chicken as they were the first in line. That left the next plates to have less portion of chicken. Chefs should keep their portions the same. I would say the meat portion of chicken is more generous. Don’t bother with steak or shrimp because the portion will be insulting. Flavor is still good. 3 stars.
Overall, 4 stars. I really do like their food but need improvement.
