Myself, my 4 year old daughter and my mother went here to celebrate mother’s Day today and it was nothing short of phenomenal! The staff was so sweet and considerate of my daughter. They brought her her very own teapot of a cold tea and truly made her feel like a little princess. My mother and I enjoyed the hot tea, delicious food and decor. We will definitely be back again for the wonderful experience and memories that were made.

This place is very frilly and pink, from the cute teal windows and flowerpots outside to the bird sink in the bathroom. We had a bridal shower here and they were very accommodating, even let us stay a bit longer. They have a long list of teas and you can switch out the flavors each time. We had many teapots but they were so on top of things that it felt like we tried all the ones we wanted.

I will say that the teas tasted a bit artificial and candy-like and I didn’t enjoy most of the food. However, for the price, it was very acceptable. I would come visit again to see what new delights they have in store. Keep in mind the sales tax in Pleasanton is pleasant Also, the service was good and the whole place was decked out with cute details. It was like a pretty pink parlor of a certain Professor Umbridge.

So disappointed. When I made my reservation, the women who answered was polite and I was looking forward to going. I made a reservation for 5 and because they take a deposit, I asked what happens if not all 5 can make it? She assured me that wasn’t a problem and that I could have less people or more people and they would apply the $50 deposit. I showed up with a party of 3 and the staff proceeded to tell me that I had to pay $75 each for the 2 missing people. They acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me choose if I wanted the 2 extra servings for there or to-go. They explained their policy repeatedly as if that was going to change history. That is not what I was told when I made the reservation. They defended themselves by saying “we are trained to tell people about the policy” and “we will have to throw away the food”. Through the conversation it seems I made the reservation with the owner. The owner was not there and they acted like it was my fault that I didn’t know their policy. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION KNOWING THERE WAS A CHANCE NOT EVERYONE WOULD MAKE IT. Terrible customer service. I hope it was worth the $75, because you lost at least 5 customers and recommendations.

Had a wonderful reunion here with an old friend. We had never been to this tea house. We went on a Saturday during the first seating 11:00 AM. Parking was tricky because its very crowded on a Saturday because of the Farmers Market that occurs until 2:00 PM. You do not want to be late because tea is served promptly during your scheduled reservation. The service is pretty quick and the atmosphere lovely. We ordered the “Royal Dream” at $60 per person there was more than enough. If you order the warm sandwiches you do not want to dally! The Beef Wellington was cold by the time we got to that sandwich. The Crab sandwiches were substituted with Tuna and the prawns, is actually one prawn with cocktail sauce. I believe compared to other up scale teas in the Bay Area, this particular menu item may be on the pricey side for some.

Pros: Great Service and atmosphere with a good selection of teas, spacious room with outdoor option
Cons: The seating is for one hour and they have to clean the tables for the next time slot of reservations so service tends to be quick; parking is tricky on busy days

A Lovely Experience at The Royal Tea Garden

What a delightful gem in downtown Pleasanton! The Royal Tea Garden is truly a cozy and elegant spot for afternoon tea or a light, relaxing meal. The atmosphere is charming—beautifully decorated with vintage touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a little slice of England.

The tea selection was fantastic, and everything we ordered, from the scones to the finger sandwiches, was fresh, flavorful, and presented with care.

A special shout-out to our server, Sam—she was absolutely wonderful! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm, Sam made our experience even more memorable. She made great recommendations and checked in at just the right times. It’s clear she takes pride in her work, and it really elevated our visit.

We’ll definitely be coming back, and we’ll be recommending The Royal Tea Garden to friends and family. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon!

From the moment I walked in to the time I left, I had nothing short of an amazing experience at this tea house. The cute, girlish-antique decor/dish ware setup made me feel like I was living out a fun, classic high tea dream!

The food was great and almost too cute to eat, the tea was delicious and piping hot, and of course the bubbly was *chef’s kiss*.

I had the Persian, Crème Brûlée, and Strawberry/Kiwi teas – All fantastic. No sugar needed!

The owner, Gabi, was super friendly and extremely attentive to our needs. The staff was dressed nicely and moved quickly!

Yes, Disney music was played and I think in the moment of femme glory…it was the cherry on top.

If you’re looking to have a fun, not-so-serious time with basking in the many shades of pink, antique decor, flowers, and dollhouse-dreamy setups – this place is for you!!

10/10 would go again and again and again.

Husband called and was told they would call back to make reservation. Apparently this is how they make reservations. They never called back, he called multiple times and still nothing. They could just say they are completely booked instead of wasting our time. There are tearoom in sf with better customer service and you can book online. Clearly store is not up to times in technology.

I’ve been here several of times and been meaning to write a review. This place should be 5 stars. From the food, ambiance, and service! My server Sam and Maddy were beyond amazing! Gabby the owner is so welcoming as well. For the price you truly get value. Everything is baked freshly daily and it truly shows. Most other tea houses I’ve been too you can tell they just use frozen foods but over here you can truly see the quality. I highly reccomend and just make sure to get there a little bit earlier to make sure you find parking. Also, note when you make a reservation they will take a deposit but it will be deducted from the total!

My boyfriend took me here for a surprise date and I was so excited because I’m super into tea experiences and have always wanted to try an english one so this was my first time. The location is very small so seating space is tightly packed and table placement was very questionable. Aside from that, the decor and ambience is cute at a glance but as you look around more and look at the details, the place isn’t very well put together. I was surprised by the amount of space that was taken up by random displays of toys and knick knacks for sale.

I’m glad seating began exactly at the time reserved, they do not let anyone inside until then to allow enough time for set up. Once you’re seated they bring out biscuits along with the other pairings. I was weirded out at the fact that they literally just use their hands to grab a biscuit from the container and place it on your plate..no tongs???..For the price point I would expect more attention to detail and consideration when it comes to serving the items. Being handed food onto my plate with their hands felt oddly informal and almost crude and out of place for a “afternoon tea” experience. They ask for your tea order (you’re limited to 2 teas at a time but can try as many as you’d like throughout the experience). The plating of the tiered stands was cute.

As far as the food goes it wasn’t good. At all. The sandwiches are your standard cucumber tea sandwiches, egg salad, and a wrap. The middle tier had beef wellington bites, a fried shrimp, and quiche. All of which were very bland. The beef Wellington was ATROCIOUSLY dry and tough. The shrimp was soggy and cold along with the quiche. The desserts were equally unimpressive and questionable in both texture and flavor. The table next to us compared it to costco or store bought prepackaged desserts.

There were surprisingly more group parties than I had expected since the location is very small it’s difficult to accommodate groups and have ample space where you’re comfortable. This seems more like a date or 2-3 people kind of thing. But even with just 2 of us, it felt very suffocating since there were mostly large groups. The experience was a fun first time but unfortunately I would definitely not recommend this to anyone considering the quality and cost combined. I think there are other nicer options of tea experiences within the same price range.

I had my bridal shower here and it was truly amazing! All my guests were raving about what a great time they had. The owner gabby was so accommodating and the staff was so helpful! The food was beyond exceptional. Everything is made from scratch nothing is frozen and must I add you get so much food! The ambiance is perfect for pictures! If you’re celebrating anything I highly recommend this place! They made everything so easy for us!
