I will say that the teas tasted a bit artificial and candy-like and I didn’t enjoy most of the food. However, for the price, it was very acceptable. I would come visit again to see what new delights they have in store. Keep in mind the sales tax in Pleasanton is pleasant Also, the service was good and the whole place was decked out with cute details. It was like a pretty pink parlor of a certain Professor Umbridge.
Pros: Great Service and atmosphere with a good selection of teas, spacious room with outdoor option
Cons: The seating is for one hour and they have to clean the tables for the next time slot of reservations so service tends to be quick; parking is tricky on busy days
What a delightful gem in downtown Pleasanton! The Royal Tea Garden is truly a cozy and elegant spot for afternoon tea or a light, relaxing meal. The atmosphere is charming—beautifully decorated with vintage touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a little slice of England.
The tea selection was fantastic, and everything we ordered, from the scones to the finger sandwiches, was fresh, flavorful, and presented with care.
A special shout-out to our server, Sam—she was absolutely wonderful! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm, Sam made our experience even more memorable. She made great recommendations and checked in at just the right times. It’s clear she takes pride in her work, and it really elevated our visit.
We’ll definitely be coming back, and we’ll be recommending The Royal Tea Garden to friends and family. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon!
The food was great and almost too cute to eat, the tea was delicious and piping hot, and of course the bubbly was *chef’s kiss*.
I had the Persian, Crème Brûlée, and Strawberry/Kiwi teas – All fantastic. No sugar needed!
The owner, Gabi, was super friendly and extremely attentive to our needs. The staff was dressed nicely and moved quickly!
Yes, Disney music was played and I think in the moment of femme glory…it was the cherry on top.
If you’re looking to have a fun, not-so-serious time with basking in the many shades of pink, antique decor, flowers, and dollhouse-dreamy setups – this place is for you!!
10/10 would go again and again and again.
I’m glad seating began exactly at the time reserved, they do not let anyone inside until then to allow enough time for set up. Once you’re seated they bring out biscuits along with the other pairings. I was weirded out at the fact that they literally just use their hands to grab a biscuit from the container and place it on your plate..no tongs???..For the price point I would expect more attention to detail and consideration when it comes to serving the items. Being handed food onto my plate with their hands felt oddly informal and almost crude and out of place for a “afternoon tea” experience. They ask for your tea order (you’re limited to 2 teas at a time but can try as many as you’d like throughout the experience). The plating of the tiered stands was cute.
As far as the food goes it wasn’t good. At all. The sandwiches are your standard cucumber tea sandwiches, egg salad, and a wrap. The middle tier had beef wellington bites, a fried shrimp, and quiche. All of which were very bland. The beef Wellington was ATROCIOUSLY dry and tough. The shrimp was soggy and cold along with the quiche. The desserts were equally unimpressive and questionable in both texture and flavor. The table next to us compared it to costco or store bought prepackaged desserts.
There were surprisingly more group parties than I had expected since the location is very small it’s difficult to accommodate groups and have ample space where you’re comfortable. This seems more like a date or 2-3 people kind of thing. But even with just 2 of us, it felt very suffocating since there were mostly large groups. The experience was a fun first time but unfortunately I would definitely not recommend this to anyone considering the quality and cost combined. I think there are other nicer options of tea experiences within the same price range.
