Very cute place! It was pretty busy when we arrived but the staff were attentive, kind and very helpful when taking our large to-go order. The curry goat and curry chicken are both delicious! They ran out of the brown stewed chicken so we only got one plate of it but it was delicious. I prefer my brown stewed chicken to be less sweet though. The rice & peas, cabbage and plantain were also good. I do suggest getting there early for beef patties or calling ahead to see if they have any because we missed out! Lastly, try one of their desserts! The sweet potato cake was absolutely amazing! This is a great place. Highly recommend!

I was in the area and stopped in to get fed. I say fed since each time I’ve eaten here it has been get good food and portions. I have had their ox tails, beef patties, mac n’ cheese, and plantains other times I have eaten here and I always felt fed. Today I had the jerk chicken, rice n’ peas, and collard greens. The jerk chicken never disappoints the way it it marinated and has the right touch of heat. The rice ‘n peas were good but wished for a little more peas. Surprisingly the greens were cooked well and had a hint of sweetness to them. Many places overcook, over salt, over season greens but not here. The funny part of today’s lunch was getting on the bus and letting the “free smells” flow through the back rows. Few peeps asked me what’s good and I shared what I have and where I got it. Two bus stops later they thanked me for the tip and hopped off saying they going to get lunch too — lol!! Some times free smells draws attention and lead the “hangry” to a good place. Today, we all god fed.

This is a gem!! The food portions are very very generous and the flavors are phenominal. I ordered the oxtail plate with peas&rice cabbage and plantains, wow!! and I had a beef patty, so crisp and tasteful! I unequivocally recommend Ruby’s and will be returning when I’m back in town.

In town on a work trip & came here for food.
My order was ready upon pickup.
I ordered Jerk salmon, greens, Macaroni & a jerk chicken patty.

The jerk chicken patty was delicious!
However, I was really disappointed with the salmon. It doesn’t appear to be authentic salmon it’s very hard, the taste, the texture and the look is not of salmon & that really ruined the meal for me. Wish i would’ve just gotten the jerk chicken

Upon arrival at the Virginia location, despite placing the order 25 minutes prior and waiting for over an hour and a half, the food was not yet prepared. While dining with my son’s at Chili’s, I contacted the restaurant to inquire about the order status. The owner provided two beverages as a gesture of goodwill. The food quality was average. Considering the extended wait time, I was somewhat disappointed, as I could have opted for Jam Doung in DC, although they are closed on weekends. The chicken is tender, The mac & cheese lacks flavor and the cabbage could have saute 3-5 min long my partner said her food was average…I don’t think I will return

ALL & I mean ALL the food in here is BOMB!!! Best caribbean food in VA (possibly the entire DMV), without question. & if you like sweets, get you a SOUTHERN GIRL HOME MADE cake for sure. I challenge ANY other place to top their flavor. I promise if you go here once, you will Not be disappointed and you will go back!

I drove about 45 mins – an hour for this food and I’d do it again! Let me explain. I’m from the Caribbean, not Jamaica and when I have an opportunity to get Caribbean food I will! I’ve heard of this restaurant from multiple people and figured it was time to try it for myself. I ordered the oxtails dinner which came with 3 sides. I chose cabbage, collard greens and baked Mac & cheese. The food was so flavorful and the portions are more than I’ve ever received at any other Jamaican restaurant i’ve been to. I also ordered 1 beef and 1 curry chicken patty. Now I’ve never had a curry chicken patty before but I’d recommend. There’s a little kick to it but that’s expected and it comes to curry. The food smelled so good. I will most definitely be revisiting and highly recommend.

The food was good overall. Greens and chicken were the stars of the meal. Call ahead if you can. The cabbage did need a little more love. It was a little crunchy.

The good here is pretty good when I have a craving. I tend to visit during lunch time and place an online order. I always get an oxtail platter with macaroni and cabbage and the jerk chicken wrap. All the food is cooked and seasoned well. And the lunch portions are pretty good for the price. It’s a small carryout style restaurant that gets busy and could have a good wait time. Even ordering online only makes the process just a tad quicker as it gets packed. The staff has always been friendly and smiling.

I was a bit shocked to walk in and NOT have a Jamaican lady yelling at me for my order BUT instead was greeted with a friendly space and welcoming atmosphere! The folks here are really nice and the food is absolutely delicious. As a caterer I’ve made plenty of curry goat and this one is spot on. Flavors of thyme and ginger and allspice all on point. The jerk chicken was truly grilled to perfection, so good it didn’t even need sauce! The patties were a great treat too while we waiting about an hour for our food. We ordered four plates, escovich salmon, two curry goat, one jerk chicken and 16 jerk wings at 5:30pm on a Saturday so it took a minute to get our food. The service was great, but it took a little longer than expected. This place must be the spot because customers did not stop flowing in! They are hiring if you might want to help they could use more servers and cashiers! Only thing I wish I could try was the sorrel, but they didn’t have any when we got there.

Great food! Kind folks! Excellent authentic Jamaican flavors!
