A Lehi restaurant forced to close its doors has announced it is reopening in March on Main Street in Eureka, Utah.

Overall: Hmm….
It’s apparently built in the memory of a famous LDS (Mormon) pioneer, so historically interesting (not preachy, though) but no beer. (FYI for out-of-town guests.) 🙂
Pros: – Family Owned
– Had a light menu which was basically half-sizes, still generous portions, but edible in a sitting
– Decent/good steak for $10 and change
– Good chicken fried steak (brown gravy) $10
So, we walk in and they ask if we want benches or chairs, we asked for chairs so they sat us in the back room. Mistake. I had to casually walk to the front so they would remember to take our order.
We ordered an appetizer and it never came. When our meals came, we asked the server and she said they were out of that item. (Again, felt forgotten.)
We had small portions of chicken fried steak (with a different name), steak and a BLT (named after some pioneer?). Chicken fried steak and steak were good. Roll was okay. Was strange that the smaller meals did not come with any type of veggie (you could get potatoes or baked beans), but whatever. BLT – please avoid. It was sooo disappointing.
MANAGEMENT NOTE: A BLT is NOT a burger without the patty. If you want to see what a baseline for a BLT is, try one at Sonic. A burger without the patty is sadness on a bun. If that’s your take, please just pull it from the menu so you don’t disappoint people.
Dessert – the pie might have been good (and it was reasonably priced), but we got the ice cream. At the top of the dessert menu, they have sundaes – single scoop, one topping. That’s what they brought my dad and son. After I ordered cookies and cream with hot fudge, they brought me 1 scoop cookies and cream and 2 scoops of chocolate. They were nice about correcting it, but then they brought 1 scoop of vanilla (not cookies and cream) with fudge going down the sides and onto a side plate. (see picture) I try not to be a total food fuddie, but that seemed a bit “I don’t care.”
Overall, maybe if you order the right thing and sit right in front where the servers can see you, it might be a great experience. I think we just didn’t get lucky.
MANAGEMENT NOTE 2: If a 13-year old boy says the bathrooms are dirty, that’s not good.

It is well worth the experience to go here. It is an old saloon style restaurant, that actually feels as old as it is supposed to. The bar was built in the 1800s. The food is pretty good, and they have lots of unique (non-alcoholic) drink options.

This has always been a good place for a good meal. The prices are a little higher then you outback or Texas road house. The food taste much better then those. The old building just gives you a good feeling. The server was a little slow, but we got our food and enjoyed the day. The T-bone steak we could cut with just a fork. The buffalo burger was awesome. It is definitely a place I have always and will always recommend. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, but the building is old and there haven’t been any updates keeping the old feeling.

We really enjoyed our experience here. It was my second time and I love the old time feel the place gives. It makes you feel like your back in the good ole days. I love the history of the building and we love the Porter Rockwell experience. The whole staff was super friendly and The salad bar was awesome it was simple and good. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I got the french dip that was so good and the bread was fresh and tasted awesome. My husband got the prophets platter which is a favorite of his and it didn’t disappoint. The kids menu has many options and the kids loved it. The only thing I can say is I wish they had cups with lids for the littles. But a cup and straw worked just fine. Thank you for our awesome experience and great food.

I’ve been living in Utah county since 1997 and had heard of this place but never been. Let’s just say that I wish that was still true.
Built in 1971, the last time it had a thorough cleaning, this literal hole in the wall has some old west saloon charm. That’s about it though.
We were sat in the back by the kitchen door and promptly forgotten. After about 15 minutes (the place was less than half full on a Friday night) our waitress showed up. She was pleasant and took our order of an appetizer. 20 more minutes pass by and the appetizer finally shows up. 20 more minutes pass by and the food we’d ordered about 40 minutes ago shows up. Remember, there half empty.
The food was below average, I didn’t get what I wanted (they were completely out of their signature buffalo steaks).
If your’re looking for an old west saloon, try it. If you prefer sanitary eating conditions and a decent meal, try one of the many other great places in the area.

overview: Just okay food, bad service, somewhat expensive, nifty looking place.
This is mostly a touristy/historic location. It’s also one of the few places left where you can get Ironport. The menu is nifty and witty but it is also difficult to navigate and understand exactly what you’re ordering and what comes with it. Which in itself isn’t completely a bad thing because it will give you something to do while you wait for service.
After being seated it took 15 minutes for a waitress to show up and that was just to order drinks. Every time she left the table it took 10-15 minutes before we even saw her again. Once we received our food it took another 20-30 for her to check back.
The food is very overpriced for the quality and quantity received. The scones with honey butter were very tasty and the food wasn’t bad but I feel like I could have eaten the same thing at a fast food restaurant or even a different sit down restaurant for more than half the price or twice the portions. Don’t even bother with the salad bar. It is literally bagged lettuce and other salad toppings from a can that have been sitting out too long.

I love Porter’s Place!! The service was impeccable, they put up with my very upset 2 year old and even brought him some crackers to snack on to help us occupy him. The food was delicious, I had a buffalo burger, which was juicy and flavorful, would definitely get it again! My wife had a steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was incredibly delicious! We also ordered their scones and honey butter which were heavenly, although altogether it was a little too much food for just the two of us. (Which admittedly is a nice problem to have) Would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!

Was very uncomfortable here. The seats were low which made my knees hurt due to the angle I was sitting at. The menu had way too many options and yet not enough, or maybe not the right ones. No rib-eye which is what I was really craving. The food was OK. I ended up with the 20 oz sirloin which didn’t seem to have been seasoned with salt or pepper. The table was not level and wobbly. Waitress was pretty good though.
We came here because we have never been and we like to try new places when we go out. It wasn’t bad, but there are much better places to go. Don’t think I will be back.

I’ve been going to Porter’s Place off and on for several years. the best way to describe it is “a local joint”. If you are going there with high expectations, you’ll probably be disappointed. On the other hand, it has great atmosphere! The scones are awesome, and they have some really fun specialty drinks too. On the other hand, it’s a really dirty place. I’m seriously surprised that the board of health hasn’t shut them down for some sort of code violation. I remember once looking up at the corner ceiling above the bar area and seeing a really gross cobweb saturated with dust and grease – totally discussing! Nevertheless, I still like the place and am planning to take my daughter there tomorrow morning for scones! Keep your expectations low, and you’ll be fine.

The food was mediocre at best the price to quality ratio is way off. It felt like we were eating at a high school cafeteria. Everything was pre-made Frozen thawed and deep-fried. I had much higher hopes and was pretty disappointed. The place does have a pretty cool Ambiance though. It has this old west charm that was quite enjoyable. The bathrooms were dark and dingy but it felt like a really old timey restaurant or Saloon. I probably won’t go back.
