The staff was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. My wife had the halibut and said it was one of the best seafood dishes she’s ever had. I had the duck 2 ways. Tender, beautifully seasoned, and perfectly prepared. Even the sides stood out. Great meal and just a wonderful dining experience.
House cocktails are nicely done, atmosphere is casual, but “cozy”. We ate indoors because of the weather, but there is an outside space. All in all, a really great place to finish a great day of visiting the Adirondacks, Lake Placid, Lake Saranac, and whoever you know in the area!
UPDATE — So it’s about 18 months later, and we finally got a chance to come back. The soup was delicious, and the salad I had was terrific. At first, glance it looked like I should have remembered to ask for the dressing on the side. But, it was so light (with a hint of lemon in it???) that I forgot all about that and enjoyed it all. The stir-fry with tofu was too sweet (too much teriyaki sauce). It was good, but a bit too much. The seafood dish was declared amazing, as was the chicken Tika Masala. The gnocchi was great (and ever morsel consumed!) but there was a comment about perhaps a bit too creamy.
Even with the negatives, everything was enjoyed thoroughly! It was a good return visit.
Because they are so popular, many people want to eat there before they have closed their doors, but they are open only 4 nights a week. I have tried to get a reservation for one, sitting at the bar, for the last 4 nights now and they cannot accommodate me.
I truly am very sad that I cannot go there one more time (I have been a loyal multi-visit customer a year since they opened), but I will not be back until mid-September, and they will already be closed.
If you want to go there, better, call a few weeks ahead of time.
Hoping they have a great future but it’s a very bittersweet end of my relationship with them.
Food was good. We had the General Tso’s Tofu, Gnocchi, Hanger Steak and Chicken Tikka Masala. As vegetarians we noticed some menu errors like the “Lobster Roll” having a ‘v’, vegetarian label on the menu. Oops. The others tried the lobster roll and it was good.
Dessert we shared the Maple Pot o Crème, wow, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter cup, very good.
Edited post, came again half a year later and had the rabbit confit, it was great.
Margot creates the most innovative, imaginative and delicious cocktails for us! Salads are always wonderful and fresh! The curried mussels were beyond divine as well as the mushroom Yorkshire Pudding! One Sunday we enjoyed the grilled radicchio and little gem salad, asparagus soup, grilled chicken, cod in broth and chocolate pistachio tart. 11/10 stars! We can’t wait for our next visit!
