Worse restaurant! They serve you nasty food and over charge you! And then argue with you when they give you something you didn’t order. Worst experience ever! Don’t waste your money! The food was not fit to eat and cost double what it was supposed to! Unreal! What should have been $20.00 ended up being almost $40.00.! The worst Mexican restaurant I have ever encountered! The taco salad looks like a thrown together taco. The food is not fit to eat! They don’t care and didn’t offer to make it right! Not even what we ordered! The lady just likes to argue because she can’t except she was wrong!

If you’re thinking about going here, don’t waste your money. I was recommended this restaurant by two of my friends since I am still kind of new to the area and don’t know any good mexican places. I was so astonished by the crappy service that I received after having high hopes. We asked for cheese dip and didn’t get that until after we got our food and had to remind our server of it. Once we got our food we didn’t even have napkins or silverware to eat with it and someone else had to bring it to us. Meanwhile we still hadn’t seen our server since she got our drink and food order. We didn’t see her until after we had got half way through our food and finally got to ask about our cheese dip. She brought it immediately but then after that we didn’t see her until we were completely done with our food and waiting for our checks. Once we finally got those she never came to pick them up and got someone else too. And then she thanked us and disappeared again. So disappointing and don’t recommend because it’s not like the food made up for the service either.

Ok so, 1st time here! Service was good.. food… not good at all. Taco had no flavor.. tamale n burrito same… just blan flavor. I ordered the sampler….very disappointed. My husband actually had to go to the bathroom to spit out the 1 bite of taco he took… the long Island tea was weak!.. his 1 shot of crown was $10 cost double my long Island tea!!… very disappointed!! Over priced for what we got!

El Metate – Hixson is a good Mexican restaurant. We had Chicken Fajita Nachos and Chichen Chimachanga with chips and salsa. It was not crowded. Food came to the table quickly, and plates were hot.

This place was pretty good! I usually get carry-out but decided to go in and eat. The place looked and smelled clean. The restrooms we’re stocked and kept tidy. The food came out hot and fresh. I went during lunch time and enjoyed the fajitas!

We always went once a week. We went last week and our server never came by to see how our food was. We even flagged another person for our ticket and a to go container. This wasn’t a rare event this seems to be the norm now.

Oh my goodness. I’d like to start out by saying I HATE complaining, if someone gives me the wrong order I’ll just be like well guess this is what I’m eating, so it pains me to write this negative review, but I just had the WORST experience here. So we get here around 7:30 give or take and get seated, the waiter gives us our chips and drinks. Cool. It’s not very crowded maybe 3 or 4 other tables. My spouse and I are chatting while we wait for them to take our order. All the tables around us are being helped, but we wait and wait and wait… fast forward 30ish mins and no one has come by to check on us or take our order. So my spouse is looking around to see if he spots our waiter and another waitress sees us and asks if we need something. So we’re like yes please we’ve been here a little and no one has taken our order. So she does real quick. At this point my spouse and I to each other are just like you know, no big deal these things happen, we have both worked in the restaurant industry, we get it. No one ever apologizes, which again no big deal…however, the thing that finally did me in is, we get and eat our food, I’m ready to go home at this point but I had my mind set on one of their desserts, so we ask if we can order it to go. I get home, open the sad excuse of a dessert(which was $6 by the way) and it’s literally a whole Hersey bar just wrapped in a tortilla. Not melted or anything… just a solid Hersey bar in a tiny tortilla, lol.

Our family loves El Metate. The kids always enjoy their food and when it’s date night we always enjoy the atmosphere and margaritas. The passion margarita is the best ever!!!!! Plenty of meatless options with tons of flavor.

My husband and I LOVE their ChoriQueso. We were super disappointed when we got home and there was barely any dip inside the container. They charge $8.99 for the dip and there was barely anything in there.
