We came here for thanksgiving 2025, last time I was here, it was under a different name, they’ve remodeled the inside it looks nicer now. The atmosphere is a lot better,

There are different level of food you can order where they bring you the meat you choose to grill and they have a section where cooked foods are available (chicken wings, potatoes beef ribs, fried rice, noodles, salads, etc…)

Service is friendly and attentive. The dining area is kept clean and presentable. They kept replacing the grill

When we asked for the check, we noticed a line where you add a tip amount, but a service charge was included, when we asked the waiter what the service charge was for, he told us that it was a 18% gratuity automatically added to any party over 2 , the menu fine print said that single diner will be charged $10.99 service fee. Kinda sneaky of them to add a separate tip line in case you don’t pay attention to the bill, and add a tip

There is well lighted parking lot, with valet parking ($3.00)

This place is fantastic. I love that its a pan not a straight grill because the foodndoesnt getvthat smokey taste and u get a more seared taste I loved it. The price is wonderful because it is affordable great for the most popular regular meats you dont find around and if you do they are not well kept restaurants. This restaurant was beautiful everything was clean and in great condition. The staff was nice , friendly and very attentive. The meats were high quality premium meats so delicious and tender. Salad bar available with hot meals and fruits aswell.

I’ve visited this place twice, the first time for my birthday and the second time just to grab a bite to eat and break the routine. The waiters are friendly, the food is incredible, and the side dishes are served buffet-style, which I thought was interesting and a great idea. The flavors are varied, but there’s no bad-tasting food. The atmosphere is pleasant, and they play K-pop music. It’s a good place to go with family or friends. I would recommend the place and I would go back again. I thank the staff because they made my first visit pleasant and it continues to be pleasant on my second visit.

First time here. Everything was great service, food the bathroom the atmosphere is amazing and staff super friendly. I noticed that the hot pan was tilted but is because the juice is removed from the hot pan via a tiny hole. Amazing idea. i definitely want to come back again. The only thing I don’t like is the parking cost$3 dollars where it should be free.!!!

Service is topnotch. Walked in for dinner on a Thursday night and got the $25.99 all day special. It was enough for the 2 of us. Salad bar included. Note that Service charge is included on the bill. Would definitely go again.

Be physically present—Yelp waitlist alone may not get you seated

When I arrived, the restaurant was about 80% full. I joined the Yelp waitlist and saw there were 38 parties ahead of us. My friend and I assumed it would be a very long wait, but since we had nowhere else to go, we decided to sit in the waiting area. We were actually driving 1.5 hours just to try this restaurant, and it really made me think. If we had waited in the car or walked around, we might never have been notified and could have missed the chance to eat here entirely.

About 10 minutes later, a server seated us, which we appreciated. However, what concerned me was how the waitlist appeared to be managed. Based on what I observed during our meal, the staff did not seem to consistently check the Yelp waitlist or notify parties in order. Instead, customers who were physically waiting in the lobby were seated as tables became available, regardless of their position on the list.

I felt uncomfortable knowing there were many parties ahead of us who may never have been notified that tables were opening. Throughout our time dining, I noticed multiple walk-in customers being seated immediately without reference to the Yelp waitlist.

I’m sharing this so future customers are aware: if you rely solely on the Yelp waitlist through the app, you may end up waiting much longer than expected or not being notified at all. If you plan to dine here, it seems more reliable to wait in person rather than depend on the app.

I hope the restaurant can improve clarity and fairness around their waitlist system. Doing so would create a more transparent experience for customers and help ensure that people who are waiting, especially those excited to try the restaurant after its recent social media popularity actually get the opportunity to dine rather than leaving without being seated.

I’ve been wanting to try this place out. It’s pretty good. Parking is $2 for lunch and $3 for dinner. They have 4 options for dining and a good selection of drinks. The salad bar is a nice touch to get fruit, dumplings, braised short ribs (they’re pretty good), kimchi, rice, vegetables, and wings (not that good). Service is a bit slow and you get a lot of plates stacked up before they eventually pick it up. I did see a budget selection which is great to have since I’ve never seen one that cheap

BBQ Chung Dam has an amazing selection of meats, with the excellent addition of a “salad” bar that also has other cuts that you can grab at your own convenience. There are 4 price tiers, ranging from $28.88 for all day menu, all the way to $78.88 for the most premium selection of meat cuts, including Wagyu. The server was always attentive, on top of things, and changing our grill regularly, and he even treated us to three (one for each one of us) nice, small portions of free vanilla ice cream when he brought the check (at no cost!). That was a very nice touch that can go a long way with leaving a lasting impression with customers, at almost no additional overhead cost to restaurants themselves. There is also valet parking for the mega convenient price of 3 bucks and you can even use Venmo to pay if you don’t have cash on you. Overall a solid experience right in the heart of KTown, where the competition in terms of KBBQ places is quite fierce. Despite all that, this place stood out to me as one of the best options.

If you’re craving Korean BBQ in L.A. and want real value without compromising quality, BBQ Chung Dam in Koreatown is worth checking out. From start to finish, this place delivers.

Selection & value — Their tiered all-you-can-eat menus give you a lot of choice depending on how much you want to spend. For a moderate price you get a strong selection of meats, and if you step up to the premium tiers you can enjoy wagyu cuts too. For what you’re getting, the value is solid.

Side dish bar & extras — One of the stand-outs here is their self-serve bar with sides. There are plenty of items beyond just the typical banchan: you’ll find marinated meats at the cold bar, fried and cooked items, salads, fresh fruit. It adds another layer of enjoyment and makes the experience feel generous.

Service — The staff at BBQ Chung Dam get good marks for being attentive. They grill the meats, help you pick what to try, make sure things run smoothly. That kind of service elevates the experience beyond just “let’s cook our own meat and hope for the best.”

Final thoughts — If you go with an open appetite, plan to enjoy a full experience, and don’t mind the AYCE format, this is one of the stronger Korean BBQ options in Koreatown. The set price gives you access to a very respectable meat selection + excellent side bar + good service. For group dinners or a night out with friends/family, BBQ Chung Dam hits the right notes.

The girlfriend is Korean and well versed in the kbbq offerings in LA. We searched all over online and found this place – only opened six months and decided to try it out!

I also love Korean barbecue very much, and this place was overall an exceptional experience and value!

You get 2 hours for all you can eat, with 4 tiers of meats available to order. – we went with option C – and you can also have unlimited meats at the cold bar – something I’ve never before seen at kbbq!

The quality and flavor was awesome across the board – Definitely order the Wagyu Otoro – it’s on the C set but delicious and unexpectedly tasty!

We came midday Valentine’s Day so it wasn’t too busy – but the service was great – with them bringing dishes we should try, turning and cooking our meats, and just being a pleasant addition to the meal! Jackie was our server and was amazing!

We will definitely be back – don’t miss out on this spot for your next kbbq indulgence!
