Newer place that was inviting and super clean! Floors, seating, and tables were clean. Utensils were the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a mid-scale restaurant (see pic). No rag streaks on the table even. Hostess was friendly and inviting. Waitress was on point with service. Food was hot and very flavorful. There’s something magical about the sauce they use there. Portions were large for sure, could probably be split by some patrons. Minor deduction on ambience because I feel that the energy and music was lacking. I love the sounds, color, and vibrancy that are unique to the Hispanic culture that often plays out in their restaurants but I felt it was lacking here. This takes nothing away from the great food and service that we received! We’ll definitely be back to try other dishes.

If you have a fondness for both seafood and Mexican cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. The shrimp tacos are simply delicious. For those unsure about protein choices, La Bahia is the perfect dish, offering a delightful combination of chicken, steak, and shrimp. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful, enhancing your overall experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to try their ceviche. These culinary delights will leave you craving more.

If you want seafood with a Mexican flare this is the spot. It totally different take on the traditional Mexican you get everywhere else.
Came back again and it was even better than last time. Lucy was our waitress and she was outstanding.

This was a very different flavor, but in the best way. Around home, our mexican food mostly has a similar taste/feel. I was surprisingly shocked, but it was affordable and delicious. We will be back!

We stopped in for the first time before a concert at the Virginia Theatre. It was a Tuesday night, so it was not very busy. The waitress was very polite and helpful. She explained a few things on the menu that we had questions about. The food was very good and reasonably priced. It was not your typical mid-west Mexican restaurant. We would recommend them and will be back.
PS Tuesdays are Taco Tuesdays specials. My wife and sister-in-law had those and enjoyed them.

Ordered delivery from La Bahía a couple of times and the food always arrives fresh and hot. Their meats are flavorful and the menu overall is quite extensive. They serve a few “unique” dishes here that you probably won’t find in other Mexican restaurants around town. The Burrito Loco is very similar to a California Burrito (but I think it’s online ordering only) and the Quesabirria with consomé is a must try.

The service was great and the food was amazing! We were immediately served a big basket of chips, three types of salsa, and delicious seafood soup upon arriving. After deciding what we wanted to eat, I got the fried tilapia with Diabla sauce, and my wife got the enmoladas. Try the green spaghetti! It’s surprisingly tasty! We finished dinner off with a delicious flan. Service was quick and prompt with refills on chips and drinks. Also, very reasonably priced! I will be coming back soon!

My family and I absolutely love this place. It’s our favorite restaurant in town and we are frequent guests. The ambience is very pleasant, it’s never been overcrowded when we’ve visited and the staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is fantastic! They offer different and unique authentic dishes than other Mexican restaurants. Their specialty is seafood and we’ve never been disappointed by a dish. They offer kids meals (we have 2 small children so this is a family friendly place as well). They offer daily specials and drink specials as well. Overall, we just love this place and highly recommend it!

Without a doubt was the best place to eat in Champaign. I used to put a detour in my travels across the states to make sure I could always stop and eat there. So sad it’s closed it’s too heart breaking to think I may never eat what might have been the best food I’ve ever had again. Thank you for incredible food, amazing service, and unforgettable memories.

I was so excited to go eat their shrimps and mussels but I was dissatisfied. The fried rice tasted old and the seafood did not tasted good how people reviewed it. The shrimps that was cut in half was over cooked and soggy. The flavor was “different.” The house soup was delicious though. The service was very good, my waitress was really sweet and she asked for feedback at the end so the restaurant could make improvements based on the customers feedbacks
