La Vita offers a truly one of a kind experience, but let me be clear, come for the food. The restaurant has been around for over 30 years and operates strictly by reservation. You’ll need to call ahead, check availability, and even choose your meal in advance, as everything is made to order with fresh ingredients sourced the same day.
The space is small and unpretentious, just four tables and one small two-top near the door. It’s more like dining in someone’s home than a traditional restaurant. You’ll actually see the kitchen as soon as you walk in. The vibe is no frills, and the staff (including owner Rosie and our server Lisa) are very straightforward, some might even say brusque, so it helps to come in with thick skin and a laid back attitude.
That said, the food is absolutely worth it. Every dish our party of four had, from appetizers to entrées, was outstanding. If you focus on the quality of the meal and not the ambience or service style, you’ll likely walk away impressed.
It’s not a five star experience due to the overall atmosphere and tone of service, but the quality of the food and the very reasonable prices does earn La Vita’s four stars.
We had 3 entrees and upgraded to to meat sauce since that is moms favorite so it was around 40 per person but definitely worth it!
We will be back!
Since everything is cooked fresh and to order, reservations are necessary. It was our first time, so unaware of this policy we just showed up! However, they very kindly welcomed us with open arms.
There is a very small dining room with a delightfully homey feel. Other regulars shared their food with us and we participated in singing a stranger Happy Birthday.
If you want to feel like you’re eating with family at your grandma’s house for Sunday dinner, do stop by this amazingly unique little gem.
In summary:
1. Make reservations
2. BRING CASH
3. Have fun chatting with other customers
4. Enjoy delicious homemade food
(Also, you can bring your own wine )
