This is a cute little place in a quiet neighborhood. Food was decent. Teriyaki chicken was a bit salty. Egg in the ramen was a bit overcooked. The udon has such a great texture!! It was very good! And the hamachi kama was perfectly grilled.

Very cute establishment, loved the decor. Service is efficient and friendly. No wait for table as we made reservations for when they opened.
Food is spectacular, well plated, delicious, generous and affordable.
Will definitely go back!

In a nutshell; such a cozy place to dine in , with good Japanese food.
Parking is a bit tough since there really isn’t a dedicated parking spot but once you’re pass that, this place gives you a really cozy atmosphere as you are sat. The server’s very well mannered and accommodating. The menu has a good variety of choices and wasn’t too long on the wait either. The food is great and prepared really well and presented nicely. Overall very pleasant experience and a place you should try if you dont mind kind of walking a bit off where you park if you can’t find a parking nearby.

Hanami is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area. It has a clean dining room, is relatively inexpensive, the staff is very pleasant and efficient, has good portions, and the food comes out quick, beautifully presented and delicious. Though I’ve come here multiple times, I don’t have a standard “go to” order given everything I’ve tried on the menu has been great. The photos on this review are of my most recent visit: [1] Sashimi Combo B, [2] Sushi Combo C, and [3] Chicken Karaage. I tend to go before the lunch crowd arrives on weekends, so street parking along Bancroft hasn’t been difficult to find; I’m not sure if the restaurant has a dedicated parking lot, but I’m assuming it doesn’t since it’s a relatively small, modest space sandwiched between other residential and commercial buildings.

*Out of towner review* The food here was really good! I got everything to go so I could eat by the ocean. Staff was super helpful and nice. I like the inside of the restaurant as well, I wish I could have eaten it there. Sushi was fresh with the right amount of sauces. The ramen was also very good. It was packed well to go for the broth, the noods were cooked well, and the pork was crispy! I would definitely go back

Cute little Japanese spot with super fresh fish! We got the sashimi combo D and the salmon Teishoku combo—both were really tasty, nicely presented, and super filling. No lunch specials, but honestly the portions and quality make the prices feel fair. Service was awesome too (they even gave us extra fish!). Definitely a place I’d come back to.
(Note, they ran out of hamachi so just went with Salmon, which is always a tasty fish. Probably would also like to come back to try a design-your-own poke bowl!)

Appears to be a family restaurant. One person working the floor with 9/10 tables and take out. That person was attentive, organized, and friendly. The food was very good comfort food with quality ingredients. We were pleasantly surprised and would return. Atmosphere was not inviting and is poor condition but the food and service made up for it.

The food was fresh, the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was dope! Wouldn’t even notice it’s a Japanese restaurant until you enter. Will definitely go back and order different entrees and appetizer. I definitely should’ve took more pics because these do not do the restaurant justice

This is a simple and casual cosy place. Love the cute decor. All dishes were delicious. I really like the teriyaki unagi set, was tasty and cane with side dishes ( crab salad – not real crab, mashed potato’s, seaweed salad and miso soup).
The big dollop of rice was shaped nicely.
Service was standard.

Ramen was so good. I got the veggie tofu in miso broth. My partner and I shared the Mixed Tempura. The veggies were good but the breading was a little too oily for me. The ramen saved the day though. Worth coming back too.
