One thing that really stood out was the effort he put into making sure we still got the drink we wanted. We had asked about the frozen horchata, but they didn’t have the equipment set up to make it the traditional way. Instead of just saying it wasn’t available, Jose worked with his manager, Tim, to create something similar for us. It wasn’t exactly the classic frozen horchata, but it was still really good, and we really appreciated the extra effort they put in to make something work for us.
For food, we ordered the chicken and waffles, and I can honestly say it was the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the whole dish was just excellent.
Great service, great food, and a team that clearly cares about the customer experience. Huge shoutout to Jose and Tim for going above and beyond. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Austin!
Ambience – cool modern vibe, a but dark, but modern. The outside bar on the corner is very good for an afternoon drink., but is usually very crowded. The inside bar stools are horrid…padding is shot, you literally sink down and are resting on the square edges of the seat. The interior bar area is also very loud and echoing, when combined with the music the overall noise level is fairly high, making conversation difficult unless you are sitting right next to someone.
Service – we had reservations through Open Table, but the hostess couldn’t find it. (I later got a message from Open Table saying we didn’t show up…really?). We chose to sit at the bar, our preference. We were quickly given water, and asked if we wanted to order a drink, we asked for both a drink and food menu, service went downhill after that. Lots of bartenders on the very large bar, but had to flag someone down for everything we wanted after that.
Ordered a glass of wine and a beer and food. The wine pour size was large. Ordered the Green chili chicken enchiladas and “Elot” street corn, shared between two of us. The enchiladas were presented nicely, and the sauce was good, but basic cooked chicken inside, not much to rave about. The street corn was very good, crispy corn and tasty sauce. Food portions were large, the two dishes were just right to share. They did bring an extra plate without us asking.
Would I go back…probably not.
Would I recommend…maybe. Would be fun to have a drink outside on the corner bar if you can find a seat. However as far as food, there are lots of other places to try in Austin.
The place is dark, the booths are comfortable.

I saw photos of the shrimp and grits and asked about it, Adrian said unfortunately it’s only served on the dinner menu. I already made reservations for tonight so I can try that out! Thanks Adrian!
