We held our command social at The Ghent in Norfolk on January 29, 2026 — about 80 of us showed up hungry, picky, and wearing name tags. Raina and her husband were absolute legends throughout the whole planning circus. They were patient, flexible, and somehow managed to make our half-formed ideas sound like genius event plans. If event-planning were a sport, they’d have a trophy case.
The food? Delicious. The variety? Phenomenal. They accommodated every dietary restriction thrown at them (gluten-free, vegan, keto, “I only eat food that looks like it was prepared by a wizard”) — seriously impressive. No one went home hangry or disappointed.
The Ghent itself is gorgeous — cozy enough for a date night but spacious enough for 80 people. Perfect for dates, nights out with friends, or casual command socials where you want great food and zero drama.
Final verdict: five stars across the board. Would definitely recommend

This bar nails the balance between cozy and lively — dim lighting, great music, and a vibe that instantly puts you at ease. The staff are welcoming without hovering, and the cocktails are crafted with care (bonus points for the signature drink menu). It’s the kind of spot where conversation flows easily, whether you’re tucked into a booth or perched at the bar. Perfect for a first date: relaxed enough to calm nerves, yet stylish enough to impress.

I’m still beaming a week after hosting my daughter’s baby shower at The Ghent, and I can’t give it anything less than 5 stars! The entire process was flawless from the moment we reserved the date. The staff was incredibly responsive, making planning so smooth and stress-free. The space was absolutely perfect, bright with natural light, creating a warm and inviting vibe. The Ghent’s team was so accommodating, letting us arrange tables just how we wanted and add our own decorations to personalize the room. The food was delicious, we had a lunch spread of pizzas, dips, coconut shrimp and quesadillas, guest were going back for seconds and thirds! Every moment was perfect, and I am so grateful to The Ghent for making this celebration unforgettable, Thank You so Much!!

I have been to The Ghent multiple times and love it! My 10 year old asked to go here on Saturday (“Can we go to the place with the really good pizza and pretzel?”) Both their food and drink GF options are great which can be hard to find! Also, they have great events! Just went to the Boozy Book Fair and it was so much fun and organized (thanks Raina!). Ton’s of parking in the back, great servers and great atmosphere! One of our favorite spots for sure!

The Ghent was such a wonderful place. Everyone there helped me pull off a great surprise Proposal! They even helped with the decorations! All of my guests enjoyed the atmosphere, different drink options and great food! Everyone said they would be back and I can’t wait to go back myself! Highly recommend for a party, a cool vibe to hang at and just relax with great friends!

Small roof top bar with great choices for drinks,
They have a seasonally rotating tap with a solid selection
The food was good it’s ordered through a QR code at your table it had pretty quick turn around it was sorta expensive, I had the buffaloe chicken pizza with no bleu cheese and cauliflower crust the pizza was good the chicken did taste like it was pre prepared and or possibly frozen the flavor of the base and the sauces were good though, mozzarella logs had an option to be tossed in a sauce I went with Korean BBQ which turned out amazing the marinara wasn’t needed.
Also tried the hell peno burger had a good flavor with the pepper jam and pepper jack and the waffle fries tasted fresh and not too oily.
The taps I tried and recommend was the boozy soda’s the cream soda and the grape and the Kirin for beer and for IPA two hearted ale is my absolute favourite IPA the taps do give you a bit of foam that you have to wait to settle but beyond that was a good experience
The atmosphere could use some updates lights weren’t strung out in all sides and the couches seem like a hot commodity but unfortunately they were taken up by parties of single people, the picnic tables were comfortable though.
They do have a shared parking lot with the other businesses we parked across the street and walked over pretty easily.

Our company held an Employee Appreciation event at The Ghent and from start to finish, the experience was absolutely wonderful. Working with Jason made everything so easy. We were given a tour of the venue, and he was incredibly flexible with our menu selections. The entire process was seamless and enjoyable.
The staff were fantastic, meeting our guests and explaining the beer card. Our employees enjoyed both the rooftop and the main downstairs area. The food was fresh, delicious, and served hot. I can’t wait to return and hang out with friends at this incredible space.
Everything, including the ability to customize the music to our liking, contributed to a perfect experience. This venue is definitely a 10 out of 10. Highly recommended for any event!

What can I say? I’m a sucker for good drinks, good food, and good atmosphere. I was traveling here to visit a friend and saw that there was a self serve bar, and I’ve always wanted to try one. I’m so glad I tried The Ghent! As soon as I entered, I really appreciated the aesthetics of the entrance. It is very neat and clean and not overbearing with super bright light, but also not too dim light to where you can’t see anything. The staff were extremely nice and helpful and explained exactly how everything works. They were plenty of places to sit, and a great selection of beers, wine, and ciders. While it was a little warm today, there was plenty of shade on the rooftop and is great no matter the weather. I could see myself coming back and bringing people with me, just because it’s a great experience and I would love to show more people The Ghent. If you’re in the Norfolk area and you want a nice drink with good food this place is a must!

I came across this place on my Instagram For You page and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the lovely host, Josie, who explained how their self-service alcohol system works.
The process is simple: you start a tab with your card and receive a special card to use at the self-serve alcohol stations. They offer a decent selection of drinks, which is a fun concept. Another convenient feature is that you can order all your food through a QR code and pay directly on their website.
However, everything here is quite pricey. I ordered the Meat Lover’s pizza, but it was overwhelmingly salty. The alcohol was also expensive—$10 per glass! The most frustrating part was that every time I poured a drink, it ended up being mostly foam, yet I was still charged the full price. Essentially, I paid $10 for half a glass of beer.
Overall, while the self-service concept is interesting, the high prices and portion issues left me disappointed.

Pretext. We did not have food at this establishment. We only went to see the place. The staff is friendly. They were having a function, so we didn’t get to experience the downstairs. It is a self por gastropub, so you do get a card for all your pours and pay at the end. We were upstairs, which is a great space. It was cold and windy, so it was just us. I do want to go back to give them a proper rating. All in all, it was fun.
