Reviews
Housed in warehouse/industrial type building so make sure to check the map otherwise easy to miss it.
Reviews were good so we decide to give it a try. I have to said it is a disappointment for one simple reason – the food were way too salty and SOUR!! Maybe they had a bad day? or seasoned twice.
The Ox tail was good, the stew is nicely done, but it would be much better if it wasn’t that salty. Other beefs was dry and fry was burn.
Location: in an industrial lot, can be easy to miss if you’re not looking closely, but otherwise easy to find.
Parking: easy, in a lot with many spaces.
Food:
Empanadas – shell was crispy and well-cooked. The shredded chicken filling was good, nothing special but still tasty. Would try a different filling next time. Overall rating 3/5.
Cuban sandwich – the bread was thicker and more “sub”-like than many cubanos I have had in the past. Also had garlic cloves in it which was a nice surprise (I love garlic). Came with rice and beans. Pretty good, would get again. Overall rating 4/5.
Ropa vieja – comes with beans and rice. Quite salty on its own, but balances out nicely when eaten with rice. Would get again. Overall rating 4/5.
Guava & cheese empanada dessert – same size as the appetizer empanada. Delicious! The cream cheese goes very well with the guava and is well-balanced. Would get again. Overall rating 5/5.
This was my first mofongo so tbf I don’t really have a comparison but this was amazing. Crunchy but soft and savory on the inside. I don’t exactly know what the stewed veggies were but despite being a certified meat eater I didn’t feel like I missed anything. I have had empanadas and arepas before and these were really good. The arepa was a bit unusual to have the protein on top but it was amazing—savory with the familiar lime twang. The mojo pork empanada had a still crunchy pastry despite me driving it home. They had asked and I said it was fine to pack the guava pastry with the empanada. It was a very nice sweet dessert. I had forgotten I wanted to try the Yuca, tostones, and the other entrees so will definitely be back soon.
