I absolutely LOVE Totoya, and as someone who loves seafood and this kind of food, I’ve tried many restaurants but NOTHING tops Totoya. I’m so serious. If you love sashimi this spot is a must try. Their fish is the freshest, best quality I’ve ever had. Their scallops and shrimp are delicious. It literally melts in your mouth and the rice is so soft. The miso soup is also really good quality and they have other types of miso soup if you want to try something different. The staff is super friendly too and I finished all my food in around 10 minutes. 100/10, I would eat here every day if I could 🙂

Went at ~11:15am on a Saturday, no wait at all. We were immediately seated, and staff were very helpful at explaining the menu and making suggestions. Food was superb, and we would definitely come back.

Delicious nigiri bowls. Everything tasted fresh and not fishy. The uni in particular was the star. Their miso soup of the day was salmon miso soup & it was great. Their side salad is good if you want a crunchy texture in addition to your bowls. You should put their yuzu dressing on it. I would definitely recommend paying extra for the shoyu egg. Great ambiance, with passionate staff. There can be a queue of people waiting if you go during peak hours. They make you put your name and party size down on a paper outside.

Food was amazing. The flavours worked perfectly together, nothing too overwhelming. Scallops were the sweetest I’ve ever tasted. The yuzu miso sauce also blends so well with all the bowls.

Totoya is still a hidden gem patronized by locals here in Honolulu. Its limited seating capacity doesn’t deter patrons to line up to experience an explosion of flavors with their famous negitoro or kaisen bowls.

We enjoyed devouring everything in our Fukuju bowl, one of their popular dishes along with the complementary miso soup. You can’t go wrong with this dish. It was a bowl of seafood – tuna, salmon, salmon roe, sea urchin, etc. on a bed of rice that you need to mix it all in.

Customer service is excellent, friendly, and efficient. Orders were taken while queuing up to avoid wait time when seated. Orders came rather quickly. Traditional greetings when entering and leaving which I appreciated. If you’re new to their types of food and wondering how to eat it, no worries, there’s a tutorial you can use to follow.

It is a casual dining experience with high end premium food quality. I highly recommend and will definitely come back again.

Totoya is one of those hidden gems you almost don’t want to tell people about because it’s that good. From the moment you walk in, the cozy, understated atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve discovered a local favorite that flies under the radar. The staff is warm and attentive greeting you or anyone who comes in to dine.

Wow–just wow! We ordered the tuna, original negitoro, red shrimp, salmon, scallops, salmon roe, snow crab, tobiko, and nori. On top of that, we got a premium bowl loaded with sea urchin, salmon roe, and snow crab… and every bite was incredible. Super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

They also give you miso soup with your meal, which you can upgrade if you’re feeling fancy. Heads up though–if you don’t arrive during the right window, you might end up waiting a bit. But honestly, it’s worth

it.

This place is such a hidden gem. I almost don’t want to tell people about it so it stays that way, but it’s too good not to share!

Such a fun atmosphere! The restaurant does not have reservations, but if you get your name on the list you will get to eat one of the best bowls of food on the island. Must get the egg yolk add on and extra nori!

I have never been to Japan. But this is what I would imagine when it comes to quality of seafood. Price is reasonable. Everything was fresh and I loved the combinations. I got the Ume bowl with Sea Urchin, crab, and egg yolk + soy sauce. I immediately fell in love with this place. The staff are super friendly as they greet you when you arrive and when you leave. I enjoyed my time here! Will be back soon!
