We had an amazing dinner here. The food was delicious, the ambiance was great and the server was very nice and attentive to our dietary restrictions.

My only issue was a drink that I ordered (the Hendricks spritz, I think) tasted just like a straight shot of gin. I’m not deducting points because I’m not familiar with gin drinks, maybe they’re all like that?

My favorite spot in the area when we visit! Always a fabulous meal (the chicken is delicious and always prepared well). Drinks are top notch, this time we sat in the tavern next to the fireplace and it was lovely. Friendly wait start and just an adorable quaint place to have good conversation, vibes and food!

The Dorset Inn is a high-end, historic restaurant with delicious cuisine, but it wasn’t a great value for me. This place was built in 1796 and they are proud to embrace that history. Everything in this restaurant looks historic and well-appointed to fit the ambiance. The staff at this restaurant are very friendly and willing to answer questions about the Inn. The menu is fairly limited and very pricy. I ordered an appetizer kale salad and the buttermilk fried chicken for my entree. The salad tasted excellent with a special dressing and blue cheese, but the portion was so small. It was not enough to justify costing $18. I also loved the fried chicken and I could tell it was well-prepared and a lot of effort went into its presentation. It was served over mashed potatoes, kale, and some other vegetables. As much as I loved it, the portion was just way too small and there’s no way that should cost $37. I was still very hungry after this meal and had to go to a pizza place to get more food. In the end, it’s a restaurant rich with history, friendly staff, a pleasant atmosphere, and great tasting food. However, the prices and portions make this restaurant low-value to me. If money isn’t an issue and you don’t mind small portions, you’ll love this place. Otherwise, there’s better restaurants out there.

We had an excellent meal after a long day of traveling and sightseeing. For starters I had a cup of New England Clam Chowder. This has to be one of the best chowders I have had. It was thick and full of flavor and clam bits. For my meal I had the Dorset Inn beef burger which was cooked perfectly at a medium rare temperature along with excellent fresh, French fries. My girlfriend had the Onion & goat cheese tart which she loved. She said it was delicious. For dessert we had the bread pudding which was served with a side of what I believe was some maple syrup, bourbon concoction. It was so good!
We sat in the tavern section of the restaurant, we did not have reservations but they were able to get us in, thankfully. The service was great, the waitress was helpful and quick to take care of us. The tavern section was cozy, a bit dark but it was nice ambiance.

James, our server, was delightful and very knowledgeable about all the dishes and their ingredients. He was patient and conversational. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a historic inn. The food was perfect on every level. We will be back to Dorset just to eat here.

Absolutely gorgeous. Historically intriguing and preserved. The oldest running Inn in Vermont. The staff were some of the kindest people I have interacted with in the hospitality world. You can feel how genuine they are.

Charming and welcoming, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Dorset Inn. Our server Leigh was excellent, attentive and friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The Monarch Margarita is possibly the best Margarita I’ve ever had. Menu was comprehensive and the food came at a good pace, and was very good. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This is what Take Out looks like from this restaurant – Roasted Misty Knoll Chicken Breast . The whole dish is sad and has an attitude that is the chef saying “I don’t care, its take out” I don’t want to say how much this costs because you wouldn’t believe me ($27) The chef, whomever he is, should rethink his career.

Take a step back in time and slow things down with a great meal and friendly and capable service that is missing in the service industry today. There is a reason why they have stayed open through centuries. The hotel is modern yet simple feeling without being overboard. The beds are amazing to curl up in and the oversized jacuzzi allows for an intimate setting.

Splendid menu with some affordable options. Great salads, fantastic cocktails, friendly service. Their breakfasts are also excellent and served in a beautiful, airy setting. You don’t have to be a guest of the inn to eat there.
