New Patio Bar at Rue Cafe is Open! Tues-Sun 1 pm – 10 pm (hours might change)
Rue Cafe has been my favorite cafe for years (they serve what might be the best dirty chai latte in the whole city), but I was hyped to see the construction on their patio and hear that they’d be serving drinks. I’m happy to report that just like the coffee, Rue’s patio bar cocktails and light bites are phenomenal!! Highly recommend the wings (perfect level of spice) The Horn Pour citrus-infused vodka cocktail. Big shout out as well to the friendly service and lovely music will be dragging friends from all over the neighborhood here over the coming weeks.
P.S. They just opened so expect things like hours, drinks, and food options to change as they continue to receive host and get feedback.

The new patio space is really pretty. Lots of plants and super clean. The drinks, especially the mezcal one, were great and super unique. Service was good too. Would love to see some stronger fans to beat the DC humidity and a more affordable mocktail.

Ordered the couscous bowl. Was super fresh and tasty. Latte was perfectly sweet and balanced. Cafe environment is super cozy and clean too! Prices are reasonable as well. I would definitely support this cafe over chain restaurants. Definitely coming back here soon with friends.

This place is amazing! The coffee is flavorful, and all the other drinks are delicious too. I have a dairy allergy, and the menu is adaptable to accommodate. Great spot for breakfast with a loved one!

Rue Café is a total hidden gem! The space is bright, cozy, and has that perfect neighborhood café feel. The coffee is excellent — smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. I tried a latte and a croissant, and both were amazing. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit again and again for good vibes and great coffee.

A nice well decorated café, it’s rather small inside so probably best to be prepared to grab and go. The drinks were pretty good, my muffin on the other hand was pretty dry and not very good. The staff was great and very nice so I will be giving it another try, especially since it’s so close to my house.

Rue Café is a neighborhood fixture with the sweetest, most accommodating staff (who know how to put together damn good playlists–I swear i’m on Shazam basically every time I visit).
The food is good, and unique in its offerings relative to much of the cafe hangouts/restaurants nearby. It also helps that the staff (and patrons) are overwhelmingly cute & seemingly queer 😉
10/10 would smile and let my gaze linger a couple seconds more than usual with the person handing me my order again <3

The new Rue Cafe Bar is a beautiful addition to Petworth! The patio is full of plants, cool, and shaded. Plus they have non-alcoholic options!

Came here twice so far, and plan to keep returning. Their coffee is delicious! Not burnt or bitter like a lot of other places, including at well-known chains. Their syrups are tasty and they don’t make the drinks overly sweet. The baristas are always kind and welcoming. It’s a great place to stop after visiting Rock Creek Park, or to study/work on your laptop. Even on weekends, there are always seats. They have outdoor seating too.
