Absolutely recommend this little hole in the wall. The restaurant is in the Rise in Shine diner after 4pm. Orders are to-go only. The food was ready on time and everything tasted great! All meats were tender and flavorful. This is now our new go -to for Mexican food! For the price you can try anything and it’s affordable but definitely get the nachos!!!

This is the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in Richmond. Everything was made from scratch including the black beans and salsa – no jarred stuff here! The carnitas in the quesdilla were crispy and moist – perfect!! We also got Tacos de Alambre which my husband said were the best he’s ever had, Tortas which was super flavorful and Elote (Street Corn) which was delicious! I highly recommend. Take out only (or delivery) out of the Rise and Shine Diner.

My recent takeout experience from El Chido Mexican Restaurant was an absolute delight, leaving me with nothing but praise for this culinary gem.
The speed of service was remarkable – my takeout order was ready in no time, ensuring a fast and efficient experience. El Chido’s commitment to providing quick service without compromising on quality sets them apart.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – the food. Each bite was a burst of authentic Mexican flavors that transported me to a culinary fiesta. The richness and authenticity of the dishes at El Chido are unparalleled. From the first taste to the last, it was evident that the chefs put heart and soul into crafting each dish.
The menu boasts a delightful array of Mexican delights, and my overall experience was nothing short of happiness. El Chido truly captures the essence of Mexican cuisine, and the quality of the food speaks volumes about their dedication to delivering an exceptional dining experience.
Whether you’re dining in or opting for takeout, El Chido is a must-try for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican culinary adventure. My taste buds are still savoring the goodness, and I can’t wait for my next El Chido experience.

Ordered off DoorDash this evening. The food came nicely packaged with plenty of silverware and napkins (may seem small but to me that’s a BIG deal nowadays). We got tacos de carne asada and carnitas along with a side of queso. The queso has pico in it and it’s THICC but in a good way. Not the regular runny queso. The meat portions in the tacos were pretty hefty. Both the carne asada and carnitas were GREAT!! Although I will say the carne asada was a little too pepper-y. We also got a side of rice and beans. Unfortunately The beans were hard and the rice was dry 🙁 I was really looking forward to the sides esp since the tacos were so good. But nonetheless all in all I would def order from here again!

Excited about this addition to the Atlee area! The delightful surprise was the Smokey chipotle salsa. The steak burrito was different from your Mi Jalisco or Mexico burrito, and I enjoyed the new flavors!

Really good restaurant, nice portions for the price. You can tell it is homemade, the freshness is present. I ordered a carnitas burrito with a side of chips. My wife had a chicken quesadilla. Both were more than enough. The red and green sauces are amazing. I’m glad I tried this restaurant. Support local!

The food was excellent! I had the Mexican bowl and my wife had enchiladas verdes; we shared chips and queso. I rarely post reviews but this food was worth noting for others. Our new go to Mexican restaurant for sure!

What passes for Mexican food around here is fairly simple high grease high calorie that is far simpler than Mexico City cuisine. As a former Texan, Mexican food in central VA has been disappointing. This place offers more sophisticated Mexican food that’s worth trying.
