I had the Quesabirra platter (two quesabirra tacos) and an Al pastor sope. The service was great, gave me some recommendations. The masa on sope and the tortillas were freshly made. Very flavorful and filling. Also tried their complimentary chips and salsa- they were freshly made and chips had just been made. This place is a sleeper, I’ll be back to try tacos in the future.

Los Jefes is a great spot for burritos and nachos. I came here for takeout on a Thursday afternoon.

Food: I ordered the Super Chicken Mole Fries, and the balance of meat and toppings was perfect. It wasn’t soggy and the seasoning was just right. A friend who got the Super California Burrito said it was well-made, though not particularly special.

Service: The staff was very helpful with takeout. They were attentive to questions and made sure checkout was quick and easy.

Atmosphere: The place has a bit of a cowboy-themed bar vibe and was clean inside. When I went, there was only one group dining in, so it was quiet on a weekday.

Overall, I’d definitely come back. The service was great, and the food ordering process was quick and straightforward.

The sopas here amazing. So is a lot of the other stuff but it’s harder to find a good sopa. The one here is of substantial size, freshly fried, and comes with generous toppings.

The quesabirria is very top notch. It’s because the tortilla skin is thick and crispy. Please refer to my photo. Actually everything made from some kind of dough here is thick, including the chips. We did this one a la carte but they have many plates that come with rice. The menu is extensive. It’s sort of like Spartan in SJ.

One thing I would pass on next time is the burrito. The size was fine but the bean paste, nah. I ordered it with lengua and that was really stringy and not fresh.

The workers were really nice. There’s a couple TVs here and spacious seating. Good place to grab a bite after Great Mall or to watch a game.

The Super California Burrito was very flavorful, an excellent portion at a good price. The tortilla has a nice appearance on the outside and was crispy. They offered a variety of salsas when I picked up my order and that is something I always enjoy in a taqueria. All of the salsas were very good! I loved the extra kick from the jalapenos and the orange salsa. The meat was a little fatty in a few places but overall very good. This was my first visit and I will definitely order from them again!

Just discovered this place a couple of weeks ago and finally just came in. Love the style and design inside.
The vast menu has so many good options I’ll definitely be back to try more!
I went with the Chile Colorado and it came with homemade corn tortillas that paired perfectly.

Great food, great service, love this new local place will be back soon

Excellent. Just excellent. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is going to be a great experience. There’s so much to like about this restaurant so I’ll break it down:

1. Food Quality – So good! I’ve been here twice now and both times have been fantastic and fresh tasting. I’ve had a burrito and quesadilla with al pastor and both times were great. The flavor is just top notch. Portions were also generous and just right for the cost. I’ve also had their chips and FRESH guacamole. Again, both were excellent and fresh. They’ve got a solid size menu with many meat options, so plenty of variety for everyone.

2. Service – Everyone is so incredibly nice and attentive! We were helped by several folks during our meal and each individual was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. You pay up front, which was very simple, and food came out pretty quickly. Everything was easy.

3. Venue and Location – The inside is all new and fresh, VERY clean. Decor is fun and chill with plenty of large screen TVs around, showing various games and sports. There’s a good amount of seating and booths for small (2-4) to large (6-8ish) groups. It’s located in an older shopping center which has plenty of parking directly in front and very nearby. It’s super easy to get find.

Really, this is just a fantastic spot and I know I plan on returning soon to try out some of the other proteins choices and plates. 100% Recommended you give them a try!

My favorite taqueria in East Milpitas. I can vouch for the burritos and quesabirria platter. I also really like the chicken mole burrito, which I don’t usually see at other taquerias. The food and service have always been good here.

Place is clean and decent, tastefully decorated. I’ve eaten inside but usually get takeout.

Literally my only complaint is that the font on the menu is hard to read. It looks stylish, but I’d prefer legibility.

New spot in Milpitas and it’s real GOOD! I don’t go out to lunch often, but when I do, it’s the same ol’ places. The boss told me about this restaurant so decided to give it a try. SUPER good tacos! Tortillas are homemade (you can just tell by the way they look), ingredients are fresh and the food very tasty. Took my girls here for lunch and after one BIG fish taco, six regular size tacos, it was just $35 with tip. This is going to be my new go-to place.

Shout out to Leah. She took our order and was also our server, very nice young lady.

No drinks yet, but word has it margaritas are coming mid August!

Plenty of parking!

Been here twice and really enjoy their service. Friendly and efficient!

Sorry I don’t have much pictures of the food but when a place does fresh cooked tortilla chips, you know they are doing it right!

I also like when the burritos get toasted. Adds a better texture to their burritos.

I started to see comments from neighbors on Nextdoor about this place and knew I had to check it out. We are shockingly low on quality Mexican food in this specific pocket of San Jose/Milpitas. What we’ve had in this vicinity had all unfortunately been less than impressive and that was proven by the fact that none of those places are still in operation. I was sad to see Half Penny Fish & Grill go away so long ago, but glad that a worthy restaurant has come in to call this space home. When I first entered, I was impressed with how different the place looked and enjoyed the refreshed look and feel of the interior. I decided to order takeout over the phone and arrived for pickup. Took a few moments to snap a few pics of the inside and asked if I could also take some menu pics because I wanted cleaner shots of them to help out my fellow Yelpers. The owner, Erik, did one better and offered to send them, so BAM! So great.

I ordered bean & cheese burritos, regular corn quesadilla (for the hubby), and Quesabirria (for me) a la carte. I was surprised that the quesadilla & quesabirria came with small sides since I figured a la carte would be just that, but they both came with some rice and the quesadilla had a bit of cheesy beans as well. My bag was packed with a variety of salsas and everything was clearly labeled. Loved the organized food packing!

Thankfully, I live close so by the time I got home with the food, everything was still hot and fresh. I really REALLY enjoyed my quesabirria. The meat was flavorful and tender (I got beef). Squeezed a bit of the lemon they included on there and it gave it a nice little bit of brightness.

The bean & cheese burrito was simple and exactly what I had hoped. Topped with the salsas, it was great. I liked that the burrito was overbearingly tortilla-forward. The refried beans were smooth and had good flavor and the cheese was well-balanced for my taste.

I got a variety of 3 different salsas – a verde, a smooth spicy, and a chunky. All were very different but solid. I liked them. They didn’t provide any tortilla chips or anything, but I thankfully had some at home, so I pulled those out to complement my meal and scoop salsa with and it worked out well. I ate all of my burrito and quesabirria as well as some of my own chips and I maybe overdid it but it was just that satisfying that I wanted to keep eating…

I’m looking forward to trying new items when I visit again because yes, I do plan to visit again! Let me at that al pastor, I have to have a taste of that!

Until next time… happy eats!
