Unfortunately, the Cubano was barely filled with anything. The chik’n with rice and beans was cold. We didn’t bother sending it back as we had been waiting to eat and were already frustrated with the lack of our choices being on the menu.
The atmosphere is a great vibe. Very cute. I just hope the quality steps up in the culinary works.
We ordered cauliflower wings and one empanada as apps and a kid’s chkn tenders along with a bakon burger (sub chkn) for our mains.
It took 28 minutes before we saw any food. The cauliflower wings were large and def made with fresh cauliflower (with that familiar raw crunch). The batter was raw inside- my guess is the oil temp was high so the outside cooked fast but left a lot of mush inside.
The empanada was okay, very light on the filling.
Another 19 minutes go by before the kid’s chikn tenders come out. Apparently the cook is new and messed up on the bakon burger forgetting to sub the chkn so had to wait yet another 7 minutes for that.
Chkn tenders were pretty much the gardein seven grain product and the kiddo seemed to be pleased.
The bakon burger, when it finally arrived was a huge disappointment. The bottom bun was dry and hard. It would clank when I tapped it against the plate. There were a few drops of mayo in the middle leaving the entire sandwich dry with a cold slice of cheese- no attempts at melting.
I did provide this feedback to our server, who was polite and even went to the back potentially to see if an accommodation could be made. However, none were made and we walked away knowing this was a one and done restaurant.
I ordered the chopped cheese, which, disappointingly, didn’t quite taste like the classic chopped cheese I was hoping for. Instead, it had a strong sofrito flavor, earning it a 2.5 rating in my book.
The Cubano sandwich wasn’t much better, scoring a 3. The highlight was the delicious bread and bacon, but the description led us to expect shredded mushrooms, which were missing from the sandwich.
Moving on to the mac and cheese, it was a letdown. Rather than the creamy mac and cheese we anticipated, it resembled pasta with a strong garlic taste. I’d rate it a 2, perhaps even a 1.
However, it’s worth noting that the service was exceptional, earning a 4.5-star rating. Our young server was attentive and when I mentioned my disappointment with the mac and cheese, she explained that it was vegan. While I appreciate the effort to cater to vegan preferences, as a chef myself, I know that vegan dishes can be delicious, and unfortunately, this one didn’t meet the mark.
While the Vegan Factory is a nice place for a meal, it fell short of delivering the vegan flavors we were hoping for. I encourage you to check it out, but be aware that the flavors may not meet your expectations. I hope they continue to provide good service and experiment with new flavors in the future. Unfortunately, I can only give them a 2-star rating for the food.
Freaking delicious food and great customer service!!!! Will definitely recommend and RETURN!
Ps. Not shown are the Cuban and BK cheesesteak sandwiches which are OMG DELICIOUS!!!!! Welcome to Linden ❤️
