Every hunt camp or fish camp has a Cook Shack where friends and family come together to share some stories or tell some lies over homemade vittles with having a swallow of sweet tea or “brown water”. At the Cook Shack the stories are a little more embellished where the deer and fish are always bigger because that is what the Cook Shack is all about. Southern Soul Food at its best!!!

Cute creative atmosphere. Beans had alot of flavor. Potato salad had a odd flavor. Meat definitely needed a sauce for my liking . Mac & cheese & cornbread just ok. But everybody is different in what they find worth a 5 star rating. The udders made it easy to get sauce which is way better than a bottle. Great sauce selection.

I Definitely recommend stopping by here. Great food in the quaint little town of brooksville. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious and paired well with the baked beans which were fantastic. Best I’ve had in a long time. The resturant has that real old florida feel.

Hey there! I stumbled upon this hidden gem and I’m thrilled to share it with you. It’s an absolute must-visit if you ever find yourself in west central Florida.
I recently visited on Friday evening, and let me tell you, it was an experience like no other. The place is so welcoming and authentic that it feels like you’ve stepped into someone’s backyard. They had an incredible spread of food, including all sorts of delicious sauces and sides. I couldn’t resist taking a huge sample of nearly everything to bring back home to my family (east central coast). They were absolutely raving about it!
I returned on Monday through Wednesday to enjoy dinner there again. The only reason I missed out on Monday was because they’re closed on that day. I did go on Tuesday or Wednesday, I couldn’t resist the temptation to come back and try the place again.
The staff is nothing short of amazing. They’re super professional, attentive, and caring. And let’s not forget about the sauce wall! It’s an “utter” gem of a marketing idea. It’s so creative and it makes you want to try everything on the menu.
Oh, and let me tell you about Nick. He’s the kindest and knowledgeable as any BBQ PitMaster I’ve ever met. He took the time to explain the entire menu to me, and I really appreciated it. I love this guy!
Sierra, the GM, was compassionately professional. She explained the entire history of the location in the company. And the front counter staff was amazing. They were super friendly and helpful.
I even bought one of their pink hats themed in Pink, because it matched perfectly with my Breast Cancer medical practice. Nick mentioned that he and Cage would be there on Wednesday, so he offered to save me two racks of ribs. I was so grateful that he did! My family absolutely loved the ribs with all the other delicious sides I brought back on Wednesday.
We’re planning a trip over during the Christmas break when all four of us are home. We’re going to go shopping at the cool country store and enjoy some more amazing BBQ sides. It’s going to be a blast!
So, if you’re ever in the west central Florida area, make sure to check out this restaurant. It’s a must-stop! I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed!

Great food, husband said he’d move here just for this one restaurant! Although Amanda wasn’t our waitress, she took the time to explain a few things to us and made a big impression with her kindness! Stopped in for lunch around 11:30am. They weren’t too busy yet. Second time here. Everyone is very friendly and the food was delicious. We got the platters, the chopped brisket platter with fries and collard greens and the chipped pork with Mac and cheese and fries with cheese. They have lots of different sauces to choose from. Service was fast. The food was great. Definitely will be back.

Drove all the way up to Brooksville from Bradenton after seeing posts on TiKTok. It was so worth it! 10/10 the food was incredible highly recommend the brisket, pork, beans and potato salad. We will be back for sure! Staff and service was also great. The outfitters next door is also a must stop

I went on a Tuesday by myself. The service was amazing. Boys behind the counter were attentive and provided personal favorites from the menu and sauces. The brisket sandwich was bursting with a good balanced smoky flavor, but not too smoky. It was a bit dry even with the sauce but still very good and I would order again. Tea was PERFECT. Not too sweet, not too unsweet. Very pleasant experience.
