I chose the Christmas three-course menu, which included an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $85.
Patagonia Salad: Easily one of the most disappointing salads I’ve had. It sounded great on paper, and the presentation was beautiful, but the dressing was heavy and tasted cheap. Overall, it felt like a dressed-up grocery store salad.
Bife Ancho: Ordered medium rare. Unfortunately, it was very chewy. The flavor was fine, but it was far from memorable and honestly one of the weaker steaks I’ve had.
Panacotta: Light, smooth, and delicious. This was the standout of the meal and the best thing I ate all night.
The wine list is excellent, with a great selection at very reasonable prices. Service was phenomenal. Every staff member was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Parking was also easy, which is a plus.
That said, I left extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, especially given the price and my expectations going in. The experience around the meal was great, but the food itself did not live up to it.
FOOD:
Dinner cost $69 per person and it included an appetizer, main course, and dessert.
—Appetizer: Charred Caesar: topped with anchovies. Lettuce was served with whole leaves instead of chopped so while the flavor was great, the dressing wasn’t evenly distributed.
-Empanada Duo: chicken and beef empanadas served with chimuchurri sauce. These were delicious and I’d order this again!
—Main course: Entrana 8oz steak: I enjoyed this better than my husband’s New York Center Cut. Served with half a roasted garlic and I loved being able to spread the cloves on the steak.
—Extra side add-on: White Cheddar Fontina en Groyere Mac and Cheese ($14): so cheesy and delicious. Surprisingly big enough to share amongst us 4. I’d order this again.
—Dessert: I enjoyed the Dulce de Leche Flan more than the Vanilla Panacotta. Both desserts were generous in serving!
SERVICE:
Wonderful service by our server. Food came out fairly quickly and he checked on us often.
ENVIRONMENT:
It was a big corner restaurant with 2-4 person tables. As we walked in, I saw that there was a party of maybe around 10-12 sat on a long table. They had a huge wall of wine bottles displayed next to our table and they also had a wall of all the meats served— both were pretty cool to see.
OVERALL:
It seemed they had an extensive regular menu and I’d love to come back and check out the other items!
Our server was extremely friendly and the menu is pleasantly large. It has a lot of great options on it. I started off my meal with the Beef Carpaccio and really enjoyed it. It has a very unique preparation, which is made for you tableside. It’s basically rolled instead of flat and it’s almost like a salad combo, but in the best kind of way. It had a lot of lemon flavor to it which I really enjoyed. We also ordered a half dozen of the Oysters and those really hit the spot. I get Oysters often and these were just as good as I usually get. Next came the Patagonia Salad, which was very light and refreshing and we were all big fans of it. For my entrée, I chose the 12oz Bone-In Filet Mignon with a side of Horseradish Crema and absolutely loved it. I thought the flavors were fantastic and it was cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend it and enjoyed it much more than the steak I had at Born & Raised the previous month. I also got a side of the Paisa Chorizo and thought that too was great. I was expecting it to be spicier than it was however it did have some very earthy flavors to it which I really enjoyed, just wish it would have had some more spice. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I plan to be back in the future. It would be especially great for a date.
They did put a small Happy Birthday card on the table, which was a nice touch — but that was the only acknowledgment. No dessert, no candle, no gesture from the staff. For a place at this price point, that felt bare-minimum and a little disappointing.
Food review:
•Charred Caesar Salad: Around an 8/10 flavor-wise, but still not something I’d ever order again. It needed more char, the dressing tasted oddly off, and the biggest issue — the croutons were stale. Like old, soft, noticeably stale. It made the whole salad feel like an afterthought.
•Beef Carpaccio: Delicious. One of the only solid hits of the night.
•Tomahawk Steak: Good and cooked well. The chimichurri sauce was probably the best part of the entrée.
•Mac & Cheese: Completely bland. Basically just béchamel with noodles. No cheese flavor at all. For the cost, this was a huge letdown.
•Chocolate Soufflé: My brother liked it, but it wasn’t anything special. The server hyped it up like it was going to be a molten, lava-style soufflé and it just wasn’t. It was fine — nothing more.
For a $500 dinner for two, I expected consistency, flavor, and an actual sense of occasion. Instead, it ranged from mediocre to bland, and aside from the carpaccio and steak, nothing really stood out. Not worth the price and not somewhere I’d return for a special celebration.
Happy hour – We enjoyed the empanada trio and cocktails.
Dinner – We ordered from their dry age steak menu. You can also check out that selection as their dry aging room is on display. We shared the 20oz bone in ribeye and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly to temp and the marbling after the dry aging was esepcially flavorfull. We ended up ordering the filet as well to get a taste of another cut, which was delicious as well. We’re planning to try the wagu menu on our next visit!
Ambiance and decor were on point. The dining area and bar area were lively for a weeknight. Apart from our food/drink, our server Riva was top knotch. She checked in on us frequently, provided great recommendations, and overall stellar service which really made the night for us.
Thank you Piedra Santa and your amazing team for a great dining experience!
The service was OK. The waitresses made some suggestions about what to order, poured our water, and then that was pretty much it. She checked on us once, and that was it. We noticed it was the same for the other table.
The food was also OK. The empanada starter was good! We were the second table seated, yet tables sat well after us received their food before we did. We ordered the Argentinian cut ribeye & veal. Initially, it was just OK, but as the steak rested on the plate, the flavors increased and the steak became better. The veal had the potential to be great but the arugula salad on top made the crust soggy. Ask for it on the side if you order it. It had a decent amount of gristle, so beware if that’s not your thing.
I’d suggest for appetizers and the ambience.
The Tomahawk STEAKS on display behind glass are show-stopping. The restaurant is a steak house, but also includes seafood, lamb, chicken. Steaks are Prime cut and cooked to perfection.
Argentinian WINES are included on the menu as well as wines from Spain & California. The cocktails are tasty and have cute regional names like “Rosario Rosario” martini.
Secret: Come for the HAPPY HOUR. Seating for Happy Hour is to the left of the door, with a gas fireplace, booth seating and table seating, with a view of the gorgeous bar and wall murals.
The PRICES at Happy Hour are ridiculously good. $1.50 per oyster. $24 New York Strip Steak (10 Oz) with mashed potatoes. Appetizers like 3 empanadas for $15.
Our server Eric was knowledgeable, competent, friendly, and he even let my husband switch his drink order. I suggest you give the server your drink and appetizer order first. And later place your dinner entree order. Otherwise, if you order all at once, the appetizers may arrive after your entrees!
Great restaurant, and I will return!
