Some items from the original menu are still proudly served to this day – Shrimp, Perch, Frog Legs, Chicken and, of course, its original hot sauce. Still family owned, it now has four locations throughout greater Chicagoland. The restaurant is often recognized as a must-visit for great food and friendly service.

This place is HORRIBLE and not like the Canal location. I ordered half a lb of large shrimp lightly breaded. 1st of all why does the lightly breaded shrimp cost more? It should cost less unless the regular breaded shrimp was mostly breading and now we can see the actual shrimp. I received 10 shrimp for $14.26
Half were bigger half were definitely small. I ordered hot sauce. The hot sauce tasted weird and sweet so I looked at the ingredients and YEP-the 2nd ingredient was CORN SYRUP..WHY? Its hot sauce?
The shrimp by themselves have absolutely no flavor..not even a sprinkle of salt in the batter. I ended up only eating 2 of the overpriced shrimp,and that hot sauce definitely got tossed.
I’ll never return and I’m not surprised that we were the only customers at 7pm.

I’ve been a customer of Lawrence’s since the late 90’s, whenever I got a taste for some fried delights, they never dissapoint. This location is no different in that aspect. Its actually the CLEANEST and most professional then other places. I have no complaints here. Food was fresh and properly cooked. Portion sizes were good for me. Staff was very polite and professional. I’ll be back soon

Shrimp was undercooked and cold. I asked for beaded shrimp and got lightly breaded shrimp. My wife ordered fish and chips and got a back of cold fish no fries. What happened!!

Giving this place 2 stars because the 2 employees were absolute stars! Place is clean so it deserves another star. Food however, catfish was super fishy. We can’t even eat it. Shrimp was good but for $12. I was expecting at least more than 5 shrimps. Catfish was $15 and did not expect to get 3 small and skinny strips. Wings were about $15 for 12 small wings.(cant remember exact prices for all) but i paid $51(plus corn fritters, banana pudding and did a combo) banana pudding was both dry and has too much pudding(make it make sense lol). I’ve never been here so it was me and my partner’s first time. So idk if its normal.
To me its too pricey, and they can make the food better I would say. Not coming back. Sorry! But glad other people like it!

I was absolutely disappointed in my trip here.
I ordered 2 catfish filets with shrimp. Also ordered calamari. My total was 31.00. None of the food was seasoned. No season and overly breaded. I won’t be back.

For as long as I can remember my family has gone to the Canal Street location. Glad to see this location has the same great taste. It has a very nice updated interior but not too many tables. There was a buy one get one sale on their amazing shrimp when I went. Be prepared to wait if there is a special. Even with a 30 minute wait it was hot thankfully. Be sure to get their hot sauce!!

A great way to get your fill of fancier seafood fast and casually. I had the frog legs and scallops and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality coming from a fast food joint! I would definitely like to go back and try the shrimp and catfish.
There are a handful of tables to dine in (I did a carryout). Clean inside. Love the marine and nautical themed decor.
Staff were all younger but very efficient, which is nice to see!

Rating My Experience
Visited Lawrence recently and was disappointed. The catfish, which made up the bulk of the cost of my $10.99 meal, was soggy and had a nasty fish off taste, definitely not like the Canal Street location. The hush puppies were good, but most of what I paid for ended up in the trash. Do not buy the catfish!

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. This was my first time eating from Lawrence and definitely my last. Everything you see below is exactly how it came when we ordered for takeout and the bill was $79.27, not worth the price. Disappointed.

Good fried fish place. Sometimes they have good specials. The whole catfish was nice, just the right size not too big not to small. Some of the items I feel are overpriced. The store overall is nice and clean and in good shape. The person who took my order was super friendly and nice.
