We stumbled into Mels by accident and we were glad we did! The service was great, all of our food was delicious and we left full and happy. Our server let me charge my drone while we ate. Will visit again. Support small businesses! Eat at Mels!

Food was not cooked well. Tables were dirty & broken. Floor was dirty. Bathroom was dirty. Flys everywhere. Older lady was very rude. Definitely not worth your time and money.

We LOVE Mel’s! They have, by far, the best French dip/Philly cheesesteak sandwiches around! Burgers, fish, salads, are all great too! Great customer service, too!

On trip Texas to Ohio and back, we went off the interstate a ways to have breakfast here because I like to kinda stay away from the chain restaurants for the most part. Uncle had biscuits and gravy and cleaned the plate! They were out of pork chops and chicken fried steak, but the sausage was very good, the eggs cooked perfectly and the hash browns were the best I’ve had in a very long time! Nice and crispy! Waitress was very nice and from Texas!

Nice little place, and I mean little. I think it can seat around 20 people and I wish they could seat more.
It’s a small, tidy mom-n-pop diner with the nicest people I’ve met in a long time. My server was so attentive and nice. I honestly believe she was glad I came in . I thanked the two other ladies in the kitchen on my way out, and they too were genuinely thankful I stopped by. Super nice people.
The food, chopped steak with homemade mashed potatoes and a side of delicious macaroni and cheese. Just so very good.
The only reason I didn’t go 5 stars is that I arrived 10 minutes past the cut-off for breakfast and had to choose from the lunch menu. I was looking forward to breakfast, but wasn’t disappointed with lunch.
If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop at Mel’s Southern Diner. You won’t be disappointed.

One of the best burger and Cajun fries combos you can get around Hot Springs. Some people talk about Ohio Clubs burger, but it doesn’t compare to the ones I’ve gotten from Mel’s. I’m gonna work on trying out the many other items on their menu as soon as I can. It’s worth the trip to the outskirts of town for the great food they have to offer.

So glad j found this spot! Mel’s Southern Diner is great. I had a hamburger & fried & fountain Dr. Pepper. The food was delicious & the service great! So nice to eat a non-corporate hamburger! I’ll be back!
