The owners of Zaya Thai Pantry decided to make their dream of building a world class Thai restaurant come true quickly after they took their vows. Don’t let the word “Pantry” fool you – although casual, the owners spent months going over every detail of the restaurant in pursuit of an experience both warm and rich, but above all welcoming! Sprouting from generations of restaurant owners, PJ seemed to be preparing for the opening of Zaya her whole life.

Zaya Thai Pantry was a standout from start to finish—one of those meals where you can tell real care went into the flavors, the execution, and the overall experience.

We started with the **crispy egg rolls** and the **crispy tofu**, and both were exactly what you hope for in appetizers: hot and shatteringly crunchy, with a clean fry that never felt greasy or weighed down. The tofu had that perfect contrast—crisp exterior with a soft center—and everything arrived quickly and paced well, so it felt relaxed instead of rushed.

For lunch, the star of the show was the **Short Rib Khao Soi** (Northern Thai-style khao soi curry noodles with braised beef short rib, topped with crispy egg noodles, served with pickled greens, onions, and chili oil). This dish was seriously dialed in. The short rib was *fall-off-the-bone tender*—the kind you barely have to touch with a fork—and it tasted slow-braised in the best way. The broth was rich and silky without being heavy, and the sweetness level was spot on: present enough to round everything out, but never cloying. The toppings weren’t just “on the side,” either—they actually mattered. The pickled greens and onions cut through the richness and kept each bite bright, while the crispy noodles held their crunch and added that extra layer of texture that makes khao soi so satisfying. When I added the chili oil, it didn’t just add heat—it opened up a whole other level of flavor and depth that made the whole bowl feel even more memorable.

On top of the food, they have a **full bar** (not just beer), which is a big plus, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind, and when I asked for a little extra chili oil, it came right away—small touch, but it says a lot about how they take care of their guests.

I travel the country and eat out at many places, and this was **one of the top meals I’ve ever had**. If you’re anywhere near Danville or San Ramon, it’s absolutely worth the stop.

We had a great experience at this Thai spot in Danville! The food was fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented. Every dish tastes homemade with so much love. The staff were kind and attentive and the atmosphere was cozy but yet so lively. Definitely our new go to Thai spot in the area! The fried spring rolls, best I’ve ever had. Yellow chicken curry and chicken Pad Thai. A must!

The drink was amazing. Pad see ew was good, but I realize I don’t prefer the flavor.
Spring/ garden rolls were good, but a bit much lettuce for me.
Service was top notch (they were short staffed when I was there).

From the moment I walked into this Thai restaurant, I was blown away. The decor instantly transported me to Thailand — warm lighting, intricate designs and elegant touches that made the space both inviting and authentic. Every detail felt thoughtfully designed to create a calm and beautiful dining experience.

Now, the food — absolutely incredible. Each dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced between sweet, spicy, and savory. The Pad Thai was easily one of the best I’ve ever had — fresh, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The Green Curry had just the right amount of heat, with tender chicken and vegetables that soaked up every drop of the creamy coconut sauce. Even the jasmine rice was fragrant and fluffy.

The service was equally impressive — attentive without being intrusive, and the staff clearly took pride in the restaurant and its cuisine.

Overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Thai food served in a stunning setting. I’ll definitely be back — and next time, I’m bringing friends!

We just had a really lovely brunch at Zaya Thai downtown! Very pretty, thoughtfully designed interior and a small cheery patio. The menu has some delicious elevated classics like brown butter pancakes with beautiful fresh fruit, several types of eggs Benedict, and innovative modern Thai fusion dishes.

I’ve been there for lunch and dinner before and enjoyed the elegant food and ambiance. You can tell that they put a lot of thought and care into each dish and the decor. Seems like they just introduced brunch about a month ago, and I wanted to share with Easter and Mother’s Day coming up in case anyone was looking for a new option!

Also, the owners are super nice and have a wonderful inspirational story. All in all, we had a really pleasant experience and wanted to share.

Delicious food and exceptional service! Drinks are amazing too. We’ve come for brunch and dinner twice. Brunch has a really nice Thai American fusion that I’ve never seen before but would eat over and over again. Dinner menu has a mix of fusion and traditional Thai dishes. We moved out of the area but come back to Danville just for Zaya

I’d say that Zaya Thai Pantry is a charming spot with a clean, modern aesthetic and well-thought-out interior design. The sleek furniture (especially the chairs) and overall layout give it a fresh, inviting feel. There’s also a small patio area outside – even though it’s set in the parking lot, it’s a nice option when the weather cooperates in Danville.

The service stood out the most. The staff was accommodating and responsive, especially when I asked for the order to be ready on time – they handled it perfectly. Kudos!

As for the food, it was decent but didn’t leave a strong impression. The pineapple fried rice with shrimp was just average. I was nicely presented but lacking that extra depth of flavor. The fried tofu, while plated attractively, was a bit over-fried and came out crunchier than expected. Did not try the American-Thai menu, so we’ll have to come back and maybe then may improve the rating.

Overall, a pleasant dining experience with excellent service and a stylish atmosphere, though the food could use a bit more finesse to match the rest.

Interested in having brunch but want to try something different? How about having Thai for brunch? This is our first visit at Zara Thai Pantry and it is such a good find. The food here tastes authentic and flavorful – the crab omelette is just as it tastes in Thailand! There’s also Tom Yum with noodle if you are up for something hot.

Next time we will come for dinner and try the famous cocktails.

We went there on a Saturday evening. Reservations were pretty smooth, we had booked a table for 9. I completely enjoyed the Siam sour cocktail here, rest were very average. The food here was flavourful however we asked for spice level 3 which turned out pretty damn spicy, I have a damn good threshold for spicy food but this one burnt my stomach later. The khow soi curry was good however the chicken served was too bland and just a boiled piece of meat. Overall, I will rate this place a 3.
