We found this gem in Lexington and I’m so glad we did. Stella’s was located downtown in a cute little vintage house. We ate around 10 am and although there were some breakfast entrees, the majority of the menu were for lunch choices. I had the apple and KY Bleu cheese sandwich and oh my goodness did I enjoy that. It came with chips and a pickle spear. My husband had the burgoo and a salad which he also enjoyed. For dessert we split a slice of Kentucky pie- wow! The food was delicious, the wait staff attentive and pleasant, and the overall vibe was fun. You won’t regret eating here.

GREAT atmosphere here, unfortunately, there’s not much else to love. Me and my partner stopped by while in town for a conference and we were on a bit of a time crunch. We actually came here twice, two days in a row, and were less impressed the second time around. First day we got two sandwiches- a grilled cheese and BLT with tomato soup. To be fair the food the first day was very good, but took a long time to come out- definitively longer than what’s expected for two things that you’re not really having to cook. The food wasn’t the issue this day though- it was the waitress who served us. We were very polite, communicated expectations that we were on a time crunch, and I tipped largely (on top of the mandatory already included gratuity) despite this- the waitress seemed to be in a bad mood. Either way- people have bad days. Unfortunately, when coming back the second day, there was issue after issue. The waitress was there again, still openly glaring at people, being short with customers, etc- the table next to us even mentioned it despite her not being their waitress. Like what is the issue? When we ordered food, we got another BLT and a burger- be aware that they don’t have things like sliced pickles to put onto burgers (lowkey weird but okay,) and you will get a pink in the middle burger (my order was also made wrong). We had wait time issues with the food again and ended up (after sitting for over 40 minutes) needing to leave the restaurant and get our food to go. The, again, weird thing is that they suddenly had all of our food ready to go when my partner went up to tell them we needed to leave, like it had been ready but our waiter didn’t ever come and grab it. The whole staff was a bit off when we communicated that we had the conference and just had run out of time. I will say that there was a guy wearing a hat who was super nice to us the whole time. I think this is such a cute spot and maybe we caught them on a weird week- they have some good items on the menu, but we sadly didn’t have the best experience.

Love this spot! Cozy decor, friendly staff. I was worried about parking but we found a spot on the street.
My dad enjoyed his “Kentucky classic Burgoo” (stew, that was a first for us, as we’re not local).
Desserts looked great, but we had no room to try them. Next time I’ll be going for the chocolate bourbon pie.
Note: they automatically add 20% for service, so take note of that when settling the bill. I had seen a notice posted on the wall, so I wasn’t bothered by the inclusion.

Stopped in from Cincinnati for some lunch, this place is beautiful! Got the club sandwich, the basil mayo was and awesome addition. Staff was kind, bonus points for the place having the same name as my cat lol. Prices were fair, 20% gratuity is not an issue on a $10 sandwich, so I’m not sure what to tell the people complaining on these reviews definitely check it out!

So food is mediocre at best and you FORCE it on your customers to tip 20% just so you can cheap out and not pay your employees? Look at their website it says “20% is added to make sure our workers make $15 an hour. Any ADDITIONAL tips (meaning you have to tip EVEN MORE on top just to even give them extra outside their $15 an hour) are split AFTER you give the owners extra money instead of them doing the right thing and paying their employees an actual wage. Egregiously gross business practice. Don’t make your paying customers forced to cover what you’re too cheap to do. Literally unbelievable.

The atmosphere is cute but that was about it. The gentleman who waited on us was not knowledgeable about the food and was less than willing to serve. They charge you an automatic 20% gratuity so I guess the staff doesn’t feel a need to work for their wage. We ordered the chocolate chip pancakes which was the special and they were a very small portion size but fairly tasty. We also ordered fried green tomatoes which were terrible and the sauce I asked for cost twice as much as the tomatoes and was not disclosed until I looked at the check. The grits were nice but dry. Overall I would not recommend.

I am wandering around Lexington, Kentucky doing the mural challenge and wanted to try the hot brown so this was the closest place to one of the mural I went to. I’m glad I stopped by. I enjoyed the hot brown especially the tomatoes in it. I love tomatoes. I also tried the bourbon ball coffee. Since it was a hot day, I opted for the iced vs hot. Just an FYI, they do charge 20% service fee to every orders.

We both got the Chorizo breakfast burritos with all the sauces on the side and his with the mayo in. It was beautiful and life changing paired with a good coffee.

Really unique food options in a charming little place. I would recommend the fried green tomato blt and the Mary Porter pie. Great service even though it seemed the one waitress was serving the whole place. Didn’t like the Bleu and Apple (too much bleu cheese). Also the mac and cheese was really garlicky.
