I’ve lived here for about a year and a half, and I’ve always seen Larry’s Barbacoa on TikTok and driven by their place that says they’re the “best barbacoa in the world,” so I finally went yesterday morning. Their barbacoa honestly lived up to the hype — perfect flavor, perfect texture, and it didn’t need any salt at all. I was just missing the cilantro. A true 10/10.

I also tried their menudo. The meat was really tender and they give a lot of hominy, which I loved, but the flavor needed more seasoning. It needed more salt and especially more red chile for that bold flavor and color. If the flavor matched how good the meat was, it would’ve been perfect. I will not be getting the money though again just for that reason, but if they were to do some changes or I read new review saying that the Menudo has been changed, then I will give it a second chance

I bought a dozen pork tamales too. I’m from Mission, Texas, so I’m used to my Delia’s tamales with the green creamy salsa, but even without that, their tamales were really good. The masa wasn’t too thick, the meat had great flavor, and honestly it’s nice knowing I don’t have to drive all the way to Mission for good tamales when I can get some right down the road here.

The staff was super friendly, and I love that it’s a family business. The Barbacoa Princess was so sweet — she was constantly helping, wanting to help her brother with the menudo, putting it into the containers, and just being really friendly overall. You can feel the family atmosphere there, and that alone makes the experience even better.

I’ll definitely be going back.

Not a “sit down” place but my gosh was it delicious.. bought 2 barbacoa tacos some chicharones and pico…EVERYTHING was spot on…I told them I wanted to see if they lived up to their claim of being the best …and like he said “we dont lie on Sunday”..when you throw a little humor in your service it makes the experience so much better… see yall again real soon…
PS help keep them from a life of crime and cleanse yourself (step inside to see what I mean)

My dad always used to me barbacoa from here but I live an hour away. Today I was in town and wanted to get it fresh and it was so delicious. I know people have mentioned the price being high, but the price is higher for things that are higher in value. This place is amazing!

Ok so to be clear this is a to go establishment. Pick up window and front counter available. I’m on keto low carb diet so on this day I picked up all meat 1lb , an avocado and a diet bigred. Staff was friendly and quick. Must use cash or cash app so come prepared no credit or debit card machines available. Check out my photos and consider following also on tiktok. Thanks

Barbacoa is very good. Corn tortillas are mid. Pricing is high as compared to similar establishments. For example Rosita’s Barbacoa down south. $23 at Larry’s Barbacoa will get you 1lb of Barbacoa, one small cup of salsa, one avocado. $23 at Rosita’s will buy you the same with exemption of an extra cup of salsa, one pack of corn tortillas, a two liter soda, no avocado. Overall, Larry’s is exceptionally good, but pricing is high in my opinion.

Best in the world? That’s laughable. It’s dry, plain, and being honest, you’re cutting corners so bad. You may think your barbacoa is the best in the world, but your point of view is subjective and biased. I’ve tried better. My advice to people, save your money and your taste buds from complete and utter disappointment.

Don’t let the looks of this place fool ya, it’s a hidden GEM!!! Nestled on the corner of 1604 and 181 Larry’s World Famous Barbacoa is hands down the best!!
You pay what the scale reads and they don’t cheat you, because they hardly have any grease in the serving cups, so you’re getting what you pay for. Awesome job, guys Please go try it, you won’t be disappointed!!!

The menudo is horrible here. No salt at all. My menudo was all oil. I don’t understand why it was like that. Here’s a pic below to prove it. Barbacoa is always a bit salty and has always been that way and that’s because I like a lot of salt. Barbacoa is also a bit too greasy
