I was only in Corrales for a night but when I asked my host about a breakfast burrito in the morning he recommended Little Anita’s so we placed our order! I had to keep in mind that the burrito would be “smothered” NM-style so I ordered red and green because while I’m a guest I’m not a tourist. The Breakfast Burrito Grande comes with chorizo – just what I wanted. It was delicious! The free sopapilla was a bonus. I’m excited to go back.

FOOD POISONING NEVER COME HERE I tried this place on 9-25-25 and bought a breakfast burrito with shredded beef. I was almost done eating the burrito when I smelled ARMPIT ODOR / AMMONIA on the beef. I immediately stopped eating it.

Within an hour I had insane stomach cramps then threw up over and over. I ran a fever I had abdominal cramps and pain. Stomach felt like it was being stabbed. Extreme tiredness. Diarrhea. Nausea. I couldn’t function. I didn’t eat or drink for over 24 hours. Almost had to go to the hospital. I am writing this 9-28-25 -72 hours after my experience and I am eating for the first time. I’ve never been so sick in my life. They served me old rotten beef.

I called in and they didn’t believe me because “nobody else complained”. They offered me a free meal next time I go in, which I will never be back. The managers name is Billy Wilson and was rude and unhelpful. He hesitated giving me his name. If they cared and apologized and offered a refund this review wouldn’t have been written. But hopefully I will help someone else from experiencing food poisoning from Little Anita’s

They pretty much don’t want to accept that their food made me sick and want to blame it on anything else. Won’t give a refund. If the beef didn’t smell like ammonia/ armpit odor I’d maybe wonder if it was something else. I am 100% sure it was their food because of the smell and the way I felt within an hour of eating it.

So disappointed. Back in the day, they were the go to restaurant. You always knew that you’d get a consistently tasty meal. It’s been bad the last three times, so I did give them a chance but now, I’ll never go back, especially to the Corrales location. I threw away my meal. The potatoes were dried out and definitely seemed frozen! I’m a mile away and both meals were cold. Chili was watered down. My girl had the Huevos Rancheros and spent the entire day sick! Read my reviews. When a place is good I give it great reviews. Rarely do I leave negative reviews because I know the impact reviews have on a business. But…I can’t in good conscience neglect to share how bad the food was. Plus, the owner didn’t respond to any of the reviews, good or bad. Too bad. What was once a great restaurant has completely gone down hill. save your money and go elsewhere.

This one hurts to write.

Little Anita’s used to be a staple of my childhood. Real New Mexican food. Good prices. Soul. The old Albuquerque locations had heart, good cooks, and service that made you feel like family. That’s the Little Anita’s I remember.

Today in Corrales was the opposite.

I went for brunch, partly out of nostalgia, and left feeling sick, disappointed, and honestly kind of sad. I paid $25 for carne asada that looked like someone chewed a boiled steak and put it back on the plate. It tasted exactly how it looked. No seasoning, no love, no pride.

The service didn’t help. Our server disappeared for about 25 minutes at a time, orders came out wrong, and the overall vibe was “no one here really cares.” No urgency, no apology, no attempt to make it right.

Somewhere along the way, this place lost what made it special. The soul is gone. The food is a shadow of what it used to be, and at those prices, there’s no excuse.

I wanted this visit to be a memory worth revisiting. Instead, it resolved me to never come back.

That’s the worst part.

I have to agree with the more recent, negative reviews. Five of us ate a late lunch/early supper. I ordered the posole and it was both rather bland and tepid. Also, no tortillas or other bread was provided. Another person ordered cheeseburger and they described it as tasting like the patty was microwaved- and undercooked. It felt as it was eaten; the accompanying fries looked heavily seasoned but in fact they were dry and dull to taste. There was only one party present but the one waiter was pretty inattentive. Also, the choice of background music (American hip hop) was a bit inappropriate for a Mexican restaurant.

Everything I’ve tried from here is good. The stuffed sopapillas are awesome. And you can’t beat Taco Tuesday! Delicious tacos for around $1? Cant even get that kind of deal at taco bell! And Little Anita’s is WAAAAY better. They use REAL ingredients, not some vat of god-knows-what kind of “meat”.

Save your money and time. Food – not good, will make you sick. Service – Not good, wrong order, no refills, no cares. Expressed dissatisfaction was told others complain about the same issues.

I ordered two huevos rancheros for takeout and a short stack of pancakes and was very disappointed. Hash browns looked like what burns on the outside of a pan and tasted like they used old frying oil. I used to love their pancakes because they tasted homemade but now they taste and have the texture of McDonald’s pancakes, two uniform and like they were made at a processing plant. I used to always look forward to eating at Little Anitas but not any longer. I understand that they might be short-staffed or busy but that is no reason to choose quantity over quality.

Yet another food quality issue on September 14 2024. Both me and my GF ordered the red chile enchiladas with onions which were good but…
They only added about 7 small pieces of onion (not exaggerating), and they served us overcooked (burnt) rice with the scrappings from the bottom of the pan. Who would be ok with the burnt scraps from the bottom of pan!? I doubt the owner would accept this if it was his plate. We still ate the enchiladas but not the rice but did not return the plate, we’re not those people. We will simply not be going back.
