I finally found myself in town when Grounded was open, so I stopped in to check it out. First, the space is REALLY cool! It’s hip in decor, with lots of space inside for even a bigger party. The space would be really cool for a birthday party or celebration.
I had never been there, so I took a few minutes to look over the menu and decided to try a blended chai tea and a cherry turnover, because the pastries looked GOOD. The lady helping me was really nice and the service was good. My drink came out pretty quick, and I took my items home to enjoy, since it was close to their closing time of 2 pm.
Blended Chai Tea: This drink was pretty and the first half was AMAZING. It was perfectly spiced and smooth, and I loved it. However, about halfway through the drink, it tasted like the “chai” part of my drink was gone, and I was left with this kind of strange foamy, icy, whipped-cream-with-a-touch-of-spice drink. Considering how strong the first half of the drink was, the second half was a little disappointing. However, I would still order this again!
Cherry Turnover: Definitely homemade, and very good. The pastry was more doughy than flaky, which is actually my preference. The dough wasn’t too sweet and had a great flavor to it. There was a little cream cheese icing on top, which was delicious and really helped cut through the acid of the cherry filling. The cherry filling was clearly cherry filling from a can, but it was still solid.
I really enjoyed my afternoon treat from Grounded, and would definitely check them out if you are in Clarion.

Great Cafe with outstanding service! Being a traveler, I like to try new flavors and they had excellent suggestions. Chose a blended drink based on their recommendation and it was one of the best tasting coffee drinks I have had in a long time! Highly recommend stopping in!!

Grounded is a cute small town coffee shop and cafe. It’s a great little place on main street in Clarion Iowa where you can grab a quick coffee and go. You can also stay awhile and sit down to enjoy an amazing breakfast/lunch in this cozy shop while enjoy the great smells. I liked the iced vanilla latte and breakfast tacos best.
Don’t forget to try one of their fresh baked pastries/desserts.

When I worked in Clarion this was my favorite place to grab breakfast and coffee on the go!!! The owner has a big personality, and his staff is always smiling & awesome!!! I hadn’t gotten a chance to get back in there in quite awhile, but made it in recently and was greeted with big smiles from everyone and was asked if I wanted my normal drink!!! If you haven’t been here yet, it’s amazing!!!
