I don’t usually enjoy the sauce that comes with veal chop steak, but this restaurant had special taste. French onions soup was delicious without being salty. The wine menu features good selection of typical Italian wines at reasonable prices.
I recommend it to those who are looking forward to family Italian food, like the restaurant we stopped by without planning a meal together while traveling in the Tuscany region of Italy.
We made reservation but there were a couple of empty tables in a Friday night.
Food was served quite fast.
Low light, cozy environment.
The restaurant is cozy and the host and staffs were nice.
We each got two different special menu which were roasted duck with blueberry sauce($27.99) and tuna steak salad ($29.99).
They tasted decent.. we both finished the dish. To be specific, the blueberry sauce was too sweet for my taste and it overpowered the whole dish. It tasted like a desert- infact, I tried with a piece of bread and it was exactly like blueberry jam.
The tuna salad was cooked properly, my husband was satisfied with the quality of food but he needed more food after that as the portion was too small.
Overall, I feel like the portion could have been bigger but I need to try their regular menu and see the portion if we ever go back there in the future as we needed more food badly later.
The menu is on the smaller side but there are still plenty of options and there were a bunch of great specials. We ordered a fried burrata to start (which was one of the appetizer specials) and I got the tagliatelle ragu (another special) while my mom got the papardelle. Everything was delicious, even down to the table bread. The ragu was akin to beef stew but it was very meaty and the portions were good. My mom said the seafood was tasty and liked that her fish was light on the sun-dried side. The burrata was amazing and the tomatoes it was served with were all incredibly fresh. We finished with the tiramisu which was light and tasty.
While I did not get our waiter’s name i just want give him a shout out because he was so friendly and personable. Over all, everything was good. Was it top Italian in CT good? Not in my opinion. But it was good. I don’t know if I would go back often though.
