Wonderful weekday lunch, comfortable open dining room, yet intimate enough to really feel special. Food was pleasing, cocktails just right. We felt special and enjoyed the experience. Good value

Overall, our experience at the restaurant was mixed. We were very disappointed by the behavior of two managers — they were unfriendly, unsmiling, and their attitude felt quite hostile and toxic. We came as a group of 12 and were made to wait, even though we had a reservation and had previously agreed on a table on the terrace. They were unwilling to move the table to the terrace, and when we asked if the door could at least be kept closed, we were answered rudely and told that this was “not allowed.”
On a positive note, the food and drinks were excellent — everything was delicious and well prepared. The waitstaff also deserves special mention: all of the servers were polite, attentive, and welcoming, with absolutely no complaints about their service. They genuinely helped improve the overall experience.

UPDATE: Sitting where we were looking outside at the pitch black did not add to the vibe or ambience in any way and we do plan on being back in the springtime during the day to experience The Continental once again END UPDATE: Service was pretty good, server was gone for a while once, probably break time.. Atmosphere is well, not much of it I suppose, kinda boring. Would be nice if they lit up the outside area some more so there’s some kind of view after 5 p.m. in the winter. Noticed the table was sticky right away and can’t stand that, their is enough money flowing through this place that we shouldn’t have our sleeves sticking to the table, they can afford to have them refinished. Crumbs on our table and sticky spray on the menu was gross also. Short rib carbonara was just ok, needed more flavor was really bland. Thought since it was pasta it would be filling as I had an appetite, would have been if I felt like eating more. The sweet potato fries on the other hand were the best I have ever had. Pear and pomegranate salad was fantastic also. The roasted pear and beet buratta was an excellent choice for an appetizer. Didn’t have any problems with our reservation when we arrived. Oh and the old fashioned is here pretty much perfect also, and the hot ginger toddy was amazing and just what was needed on a super cold date night.

I had a wonderful dinner at The Continental at the beautiful Ford House. The salads are huge and flavorful, and my entree of salmon with risotto was delicious. I felt their squash soup wasn’t thick enough, but it was still tasty. Their signature butter cake is like a very sweet blondie rather than a cake, if that’s your cup of tea. I’ll definitely be coming again!

The staff was kind and the place is beautiful. However, although they do have a kid menu, not sure I’d proclaim it kid friendly. Food was pretty tasty, but some plates were small for the price. The house salad was definitely the most impressive, but you can skip the pot pie. Certainly convenient for a visit, but if you have kids burnt out from walking around a museum all day, it’s not an ideal spot.

KHILA! our server was delightful. Great listener, very attentive to our table. Food was nice, just not hot enough for me. KHILA, again thank you for your kindness and conversations. You are an incredible young lady! Happy new year. My girlfriend Joanne, a member of the complex invited me. We both thoroughly enjoyed on a Thursday afternoon. Couple of weeks ago.

Wonderful experience as usual. My husband had the perch & I had the chicken (my chicken was under cooked, but they took it back right away & brought it back cooked to perfection. Plus the manager took it off our bill (she was so nice). We had Jessica as our server, she was great! Will definitely be back soon. Thx

Nestled inside the visitors center on the immense grounds of the Edsel Ford house, ( he was Fords only son just an FYI), is the small bistro restaurant The Continental. Named after the iconic car , it not only shares beautiful styling and ambience but quality.
Fresh season fare served daily, we enjoyed a well stocked brunch menu and dined on fresh coffee and my date had a simosa. ( eventually)
The food was fresh and hot, our one major sticking point. they took away from the experience was our waiter who just found t seem to be found and when we did ask questions he was uncertain about most menu items and blatantly left out any mention of special dishes or drinks.
Thankfully there were other staff around to pick up his slack.
The dining room was cozy and contemporary, with a modern yet comfortable vibe.
We dined on delicious popovers and when our lead did arrive , we were delighted with the Shakshuka, ( Look it up) and a delicious black bean burger.
Fairly priced for what you get and it surroundings , definitely worth a shot, just make sure you get a good server.

The setting at The Continental at Ford House is undeniably appealing — the lakefront views and modern‑elegant décor make this a strong option for a special outing. The staff were friendly and the service was decent: we were welcomed promptly, the ambiance was comfortable, and the dining room is nicely laid out.
On the food front, though, the experience was more mixed. Some dishes stand out, such as salads that were generous and tasty, but others lacked the depth or consistency I’d expect given the price point. For example, a pasta dish arrived somewhat bland and under‑seasoned, and the portion size didn’t quite justify the cost. Additionally, minor issues — like a sticky table and a delay in service mid‑meal — detracted a bit from an otherwise pleasant atmosphere.
Ultimately, The Continental is a fine choice if you’re looking for a nice outing with a scenic view and good service, but it doesn’t consistently deliver in every dish. I’d return, but I’d do so with moderate expectations.

The atmosphere superceded the food. Beautiful estate and classy/relaxed vibe. The popovers were over baked, too airy and flavorless. The short rib carbonara was bland with a very small amount of meat. The butter cake was phenomenal. Service was mediocre.
